Significant power loss. Where to start?

Hello everybody and thank you for your advices upfront.

I have 2005 G35 Coupe AT With 65k miles on it.
I use Mobile-1 oil and filters and change it every 5k.
Have changed my plugs on 60k (thought it may help, but gained 3hp only).

I was racing my friend recently. He has Subaru WRX 2009. i believe it has 245hp in it. Well i can understand that 4wd may be better on start but when i couldn't keep up with him on highway, i was pissed. (at last ihave +40hp )

I've used Dynolicious iPhone app to measure performance of my car. Here are the results after new oil change:

I've set up weight at 3700lb (Car+I). Drivetrain loss = 0.

0-10 0.88
0-20 1.86
0-30 2.91
0-40 4.04
0-50 5.39
0-60 6.83
....
0-90 13.91

1/4 mile 15.27 @ 94.6
Peak Horsepower 187hp - are you kidding me? WHERE IS ANOTHER 100HP!?
Check engine light is OFF.

Any thoughts?

Lemme guess, are you a colorado native like myself? Those numbers are exactly what i got just about for my 2005 5at coupe.

Altitude causes less air density = less of an explosion when spark hits the fuel.

so the rule of thumb is for every 1000FT ABOVE sea level you loss 3% HP. I live in Parker Colorado, so my altitude is 6080FT above sea level. 6*.3% = 18% HP loss.

2009 WRX has 265HP and is about 400 lbs lighter. I drive a stock 2006 WRX (245HP) which I know is a bit faster to 60 than my modded G but begins to rapidly loose ground from 60-90+. IMHO a stock G would be no match. Even so, I think the G is superior in just about every other way.

No, it is using a built in accelerometer. People say it is very accurate.

The Dyno app is not extremely accurate. But its alright.

I would go to a 1/4mile track and get some official timing.

Yes it is. But it's not the point. I just don't get it. Where are my other ~100hp. Should i may be get one of those error codes testers and see if one of my sensors went bad or go to the shop to have it tested .... I know enough about cars on mechanical part of it, there is nothing that can be possibly wrong with it. It's a relevantly new car and has been taken a good care of.

What i don't know is may be there are some computer setting that should be rested or adjusted. If there are people who did chip tuning or who know how the electronic part of this car works, please set me to the right direction. Just don't wona go from shop to shop and pay $150 for diagnostic that most likely will have no result.

You just said it yourself. Theres probably nothing wrong with the car. If your worried a code is being thrown which would lead to a CEL light coming on then goto autozone or advanced auto and they do a OBD read for free.

Edit. Also your car is only rated at 280 at the engine. Even with mods your not over 300 i bet at the engine and then factor in age and altitude. I can imagine around 200 at the wheels which would be about right.

yea just because the brochure says 280hp doesn't mean that actually what you have and it deffinatly doesn't mean thats what makes it to the wheels. the engine rated hp will NEVER come up the same number to the wheels unless your dyno is broken. you lose a significant amount through the transmission and differential and yours is an automatic which is even worse for losing hp.

you actually started a thread looking for advice bacause your iphone dyno app gave you a reading you didnt like???
