Staggered Wheel config and the car wash

I generally clean my car at home instead of car washes, but its a little tough with the weather in the Northeast the way it is. I have a staggered configuration with 20x8.5 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. Would it be ok to take the car through the chain driven car washes with the rollers that move the wheels? I am worried about messing up my wheels and most places have these rollers that move the car through the car wash. Any thoughts or experience? I really would like to clean my car.

I would never take my car to that type of car-wash - I never liked those type car wash, because the attendant has to drive my car. The kind we have around the way cleans the car with a power-spray device. You drive in and the spray circles the car, cycles with wax, then clear coat protection etc...

I've never run my car through one of those washes yet. Its just that my car hasn't been cleaned since thanksgiving so I rather have it clean in someway than dirt and grime sitting on it. I will just have to research into more places.

It'll work fine. Those things are usually lined with plastic/rubber on the rollers and the rails. I've fit 12" wide rears on one of those and I'm sure they're all fairly close in terms of width. Get your car washed and waxed ASAP if it's been since thanksgiving.

I'd wash my car in bitter cold with rubber gloves and hot water...before I use one of those..

I would be more worried about what kinda crap is going to get sprayed onto my rims than if it fits or not.

Now that is true. U should ask the guy b4 going in what type chemical is being used on the wheels.

I have taken my car through one and it works fine.. The tracker is only on one side.. mostly the drivers side and it's lined with rubber. It wont damage the wheel or anything.. Well the one i go to doesn't

I took my car to the car wash one time and asked that question. They say car washes are no good if you like keeping your car in better condition

I've washed my car in them plenty of times and it still looks fantastic. A little clay bar and wax job every so often and my car is golden.

Automated car washes are bad. Find a little shelter or roof where you can clean/rinse your car underneath it.

It must be a PIA living in an area where you have snow/ice and try to keep your G35 clean. Shame you can't just park/garage it for the winter and drive some POS 4X4 truck, that would be my way of handling your weather. And NO car wash ever....

That is a nice plus... but after 3 months of driving a 4x4 truck every day, you get tired of it. I actually put my snow tires on my G yesterday so i could start driving it. Tired of 14mpg out of the truck when my G gets 20-21. Tired of the cramped ride.. needing a change of pace...

I usually pressure wash my G off every day when I drive in crappy weather.

depending on the railing,
You'll curb your rims, all around,
If ur rears are too wide, some of them are pretty narrow, cant even take 275s
If ur low, u'll rub from one end to other on the railing.

Find a hand wash, Well worth it. Much cheaper then dealing with problems it can cause.
