help with decision!
Sorry for another post on here, but the other thread was falling off topic and i thought it would be necessary to start a new one. If any of you were following my old one, my dad made an agreement that he would match whatever i had. I am a sophomore in highschool right now. In this case, i have 8500 so he was exposed to match that. I just got all the money i needed finally after 3 years of working. My family is going through a bit of a rough patch right now with our money situation and we are selling our house so my dad wont do the deal with me anymore. He took 5k out of my bank account leaving me with 3300. Now he pretty much is saying that i can buy a 12k car. This sounds great but he is only paying 3500 compared to our original deal. He said think about it and do whatever you want. I have wanted the g for 3 years now and my heard has been broken. it could take another year for our house to sell. I know that i will probably never have another chance to save up that much money for a g35 again(go to college, wont need a car much then after that in life will not have much money). Going to list 2 options. I dont want to hear the your not experienced enough to drive this car or stuff like that. I race TAG and shifter karts at a ameture level and know how to drive.
Option 1: Wait for the house to sell. While waiting, i could make some more money for gas in the future, extra money for repairs, money for oil changes, and just some good spending money. Once the house sells, i buy the g35 for 17k just like our agreement and have some extra money just for back up.
Option 2: I pay 8500, my dad pays 3500. I can buy a 12k car. This means i will have no extra money in the case which something breaks, gas money, and money to spend. Once we sell our house, my dad will not follow up with the deal he made so i will pretty much be out 5k of what i should have had for a car. This means no g35 for me unless i can somehow make 5,000 before college.

Dude... if your family's going through a rough patch and has to sell the house, last thing on your mind should be getting a G at ALL. I think you're starting to get blinded by your wants and desires and are too emotionally invested. Take a step back and see where this is heading.
I know its unfair that they've supported your sister for her hobbies and none of yours, but helping them out in this situation might be the mature thing to do. It might make them realize that you really are mature for your age and let them see you in a different light. I don't know your parents so I can't say for sure, but definitely let go of the G, man...

Neither of the options, I agree with what Jake said above. Step back and think about the big picture, as a sophmore in high school, do you REALLLY need a car? I know I didn't but everybody is different. G35 is a nice car but don't want to be flat bottom after bringing it home. Come to think of it, if you really do need a form of transportation to get around, a beater for around $5000 wouldn't be a bad idea either. just my .02
I agree with them up there ^.. I obviously don't know your family but if mine was loosing there house an Infiniti G35 would be the last thing I would be concerned with. I mean cmon... They have provided a roof over your head and I'm sure so much more. Open your eyes brotha
get a civic eg for 1000, fix it up with another 2000, then boost it with the 1000. total = 4000, everyone will be happy =]

this is one sexy car but damn its doing a number on my wallet...
You've worked and saved towards a goal, and I think that shows maturity. I'm sure your parents are proud of what you've accomplished, and I'd bet my life that your dad feels like crap for not being in a position to follow through on the commitment he made to you. I certainly would.
Keep in mind that the economy you live in today is not the same economy it was just three years ago. It's pretty ugly out there for many in "grown-up land" right now. People are losing homes they can't afford for a number of reasons. People are losing, and have lost, jobs. Many who are still working are doing more work for less pay just to stay employed. There are a number of people who are facing the very real possibility they'll be homeless soon, and you might be surprised to see some of your neighbors who drive nice cars shopping for food at a local charity.
You are coming of age during the worst recession since the Great Depression. Keep that in perspective when you feel bad you're not getting a g35 right now.
This idea I quoted above is what I wanted to comment on. At your age, with your limited life experience (not a criticism, it's simply reality when you have yet to wake up in the middle of the night wondering how you're going to pay your rent), things that seem really important to you really don't amount to much in the grand scheme of things.
This idea that things will never get better...that you'll never be able to get a G...that you'll never be able to save this much money again is not unexpected for someone of your age. As I wrote before, it's tough to look at things long-term when one is a teenager.
I was entering my teenage years during the brutal recession of the early 1980's. It was ugly. I spent the rest of my teen years living on welfare & food stamps because of the condition of the economy and other factors beyond my control. There was never any thought in my head that my parents should contribute anything towards a luxury like a car for me. Life seemed pretty bleak at the time.
Things are much different now. The amount of money I paid for my first car, and indeed the amount of money you currently have saved, is nothing compared to what you'll have the ability to earn and save if you make wise decisions with your life over the next 5-15 years. I know that sounds like a long time to someone of your age, but the time is going to pass regardless whether you choose to work towards a brighter future or just goof off.
G-35's are only going to get cheaper over time. Stepping up to help your family in a time of need - even if it just means telling your dad sincerely "I'm disappointed, but I understand there are more important priorities to address at present. What can I do to help?" will likely go much further towards building you a better tomorrow than any car ever could.
I hope you don't think I'm lecturing you, because I think you've done a great job earning and saving the money you have. I'm just trying to offer a different perspective to view your current situation from.
Life tomorrow is not going to be the same as life today. It can be better or worse, and much of the outcome will be due to the choices you make today.
Best wishes with your decision. I hope things turn around for your family soon.

You dont need a G35 right now especially at 16. The cost is too great with gas, maintenance, and etc... Get something cheaper like a 240sx or 300zx, or anything along those lines if you really want a car. Buying a G35 in the condition you stated would be selfish.
