Get the VIN and call an Infiniti dealership and ask if it has ever been tested or had the long or short block replaced. They should be able to tell you.

 

Id pass if you can see that many problems. Mine as well wait and find a good quality ride.

 

Infiniti has no record of testing for this TSB. What does one suggest? I know this can happen at any point in the car's life, correct? I just dont understand how a Nissan dealership could sell a potentially flawed engine vehicle that they have a TSB on, without checking it in their "inspection".

I really with I could post a WTB: but when I did it was deleted since I dont have 100 posts. It's not easy to have 100 posts without owning a G on a G35 board. I could go through and spam the threads and say "nice" etc but I'll just have to wait I guess.

 

There is no way to tell for sure if a car burns oil unless you can run it for at least a few hundred miles. Check the oil level on the dipstick, take it on a long cruise and check back again. Maybe the dealership will let you take it for a weekend trip. Tell them you want to check for oil consumption and if there isn't any, you'd be game. I think it looks like a great deal especially with the concessions they have offered.

 

There is a sticky about the oil consumption (OC) issue with the first year of Rev-up motors. I'm am under the understanding Infiniti is no longer doing a long-block replacement bit rather they are just doing the short-block now.

In short search oil consumption on this forum an you will find the answers to all your questions.

BTW, have you checked the Blue Book on this car to see how much if any deal you might be getting?

Don't trust Carfax. I drove 2.5 hours to look at an 04 Coupe with 63,xxx miles on it. Carfax said 1 owner, no accidents or repairs. Went to look at it, it drove fine, and you could tell the corner of the rear bumper had been painted.

Took it to a mechanic, and he said it had to have been in at least 2 accidents, he found a lot of areas where there was orange peel where it had been repainted poorly, a rear shock was shot, the passenger door rattled, and the driver's side rear quarter panel had been replaced because the VIN Sticker was duplicated and stuck on.

Later that week looked at another 04 with about the same amount of mileage, same price. Took it to the same mechanic, and he couldn't find anything wrong with it, apart from it needing to be aligned a tiny bit.

Moral of the story, take Carfax reports with a grain of salt.

 

Leatherique works wonders on tan leather seats. Should get the yellow stains out

 

Tan interior is a NO NO~! Last car was a Mercedes with tan interior and on a hot day.... you WILL get skid marks on your seat.... My G is blk/blk.. on a hot day, you can't see ****.

If you really want blk on blk... just keep looking. Something will come up and maybe for less. It is an attractive deal because of the low mileage. The door being painted could have been anything.. if you are unsure, take it to a mechanic and see if they find any signs of an accident! Good luck either way!

Skid marks??? I don't know what you do but I don't think anyone gets skid marks on their car seats. Underwear maybe, but not on their car seat. But in the summer, you will wish you had a tan interior. I didn't want to get into my car in the summer when I had a black interior.

 

looks like a pretty decent car to me....i have black interior and that shiiiiit gets hot!!! but looks good, i personally am not partial to the tan on any car. i think audis look like poop with that.

 

I am in the same situation you are in and almost settled for a car just because it has low miles. I set up a thread for advice and after everything decided to pass on it. I did it because it wasnt the car for me.

I say keep looking because when you find the car thats meant for you, you'll know and there will be nothing wrong with the car and everything will be to your liking. Keep looking and dont lose faith. You'll know when its the one

 

The question you have to ask yourself is "Will i be fully happy"

When looking for a car, don't settle because you WILL regret it. :]
