To G35, Or Not To G35? That Is The Question.

I have a 1988 Accord. Please help me! lol I'm not exactly tearing up the road, picking up chicks, or driving around in a cool-looking car with this thing.

After my first round of comparing cars, I widdled it down to two: the Acura TSX and the Mazda 6i sport sedan. Both were nice cars, but I wasn't exactly happy. I thought to myself: "Y'know, I'm in my mid-20's and single. I don't need a sedan. That just screams old man to me."

Then, I looked at the Nissan 350Z Enthusiast. It looked perfect, but it's just too damn small. I'm 6'2". I don't think the leg or height room would be good enough.

Finally, I came across the G35 coupe.

What a sweeeeet car this is. The looks & the performance are fantastic, but my main reason is the warranty. It beats the hell out of the other cars I looked at.

The only downside is the gas milage, but then again I wasn't expecting the mpg of an Echo with this car.

Anyway, if you can all chime in with the + and - of this car I'd really appreciate it.

Re: To G35, Or Not To G35? That Is The Question.

I have a '96 Accord, and I planned on keeping it when I bought the G35. That way, I have a car I can not be afraid to park next to people and to ghetto parts of town. Plus it has the room to haul some people and stuff, and gets decent gas mileage. I onlly drive the G a couple times/week to work and then on the weekends. So I don't need or care about the trunk space or how many people I can drive around.

Are you selling the Accord or keeping it?
Good: it's a sexy bitch, good acceleration and handling, chicks dig it, RWD, fun to drive, pretty reliable, great seats.
Bad: You have to park in the far remote areas of parking lots, you will spend too much money on cleaning products and aftermarket stuff and spend way too much time on this (awesome) forum, not as fast as an Evo or WRX STi but more luxurious, not as lux as a TSX some say,....

P_Diddy,

Thanks for your input, but please don't butcher anymore Police songs!

I'm not sure if I'm going to sell the Accord. I put $700 worth of stereo equipment into her, a new radiator, new tail-lights and lights, amongst countless other things I've bought to fix her up. But.......I don't think I'd get much for her.

I drive to and from work a total of 60 miles each day. 55 of those miles are on the highway, so I don't think that would be overkill for the G35.

I have a couple more questions:

1.) Does it need 93 octane gas? (that might sound like a dumb question)

2.) What are the sizes of the speakers and how many of them are there in the car?

You should use 91 octane gas or better. The front sizes are 6.5" in the door panels. I believe the rears are the same? If you get the Premium package it comes with the Bose system and 6 disc in dash changer.

Wow, the rears are 6.5" also? Darn.

When I think of Bose, I think of home theater speakers. I'm not saying their car line will sound bad, but there isn't a "stock" or "premium" audio package I've heard that competes with an aftermarket system you can build yourself.

Unfortunately, the 35's system looks pretty impossible to remove to put an aftermarket in. Is there anyone who's tried it?

I would recommend NOT getting the Premium Package. People have said it is easier to add aftermarket stuff to the stock stereo, because the Bose setup uses jacked up EQ curves in their amps, and low impedance speakers so they can run on less power.

But check out the rest of the options in the premium package and see if you like them. Here's my thoughts: Autodimming Homelink rear view mirror is cool but you can buy that from the mfgr separately. Auto-headlights are not useful for me because they turn on when i drive into my garage even in the day. Sunroof is cool, I would have gotten one anyways. Power tilt/telescope steering wheel is OK, but I think a manual adjustment is standard already. Bose - not worth it IMO. I'm an audio enthusiast & Bose doesn't cut it for me.

Yeah with PREM pack, u have to get everything that is included. You could get the SUNROOF seperately though. But thats about it. Good luck!

I'm having trouble finding a 2004 Base Coupe, without a moonroof and with cloth interior.

How hard are these to come by? I've had a couple local delears do a nationwide search, but they don't come up with anything. I'm not sure if I believe that or not. I mean, it's non-exsistent in the entire freaking country? Come on!

One dealer quoted me at $32,000 (around $35,000 including tax) for a new 2005 Base Coupe, without a moonroof. If I could save in upwards of $4,000.....then forget a 2005 for now.

Re: To G35, Or Not To G35? That Is The Question.

Well....Im not a big fan of the stereo stuff...so I love the Bose system and think it sounds great. I love the premium package but I don't think I would need it...only thing I would need would be the sunroof.

I came from a little turbo car and I thought man how would I think about driving this car since it is slower, bigger, a overall different type of car but recently just picking it up...I said wow this car drives so nice and I don't feel a need to speed in it cause it's a luxury car that I just love to drive slow and watch people look at my car =)
but nice thing is its got a lil kick to it and I can tell you its a lot faster than your accord

+ Motor Trend's Car of the Year 2003
+ Car and Driver Top 10 since intro
+ Ward's Top 10 engine since intro
+ One of the highest projected resale values ... 50% at 3 yrs
+ Worth $10K more than price ... compared to similar cars
+ Latest/greatest technologies
+ Innovative new design so you don't see yourself at every corner like a BMW
+ sleek, tight, and fast ... "the" luxury sports car
I could go on and on. Suffice it to say, this is my third Infiniti. The G35 Coupe is a no-brainer.

6MT's are only available with leather, no cloth. With the auto tranny, cloth is an option but they are hard to come by because since the car was very popular, the dealers ordered them with more options.

...the Texas-based Grubbs Infiniti folks and the military special pricing....would a ball park figure on a base '05 6MT be about 30k prior tax/license/doc fees?

Re: To G35, Or Not To G35? That Is The Question.

Infiniti of Elk Grove, CA had a Carribean Blue 6MT without the premium package and no sunroof. They may still have it.

I don't think you could get a 6MT with cloth seats, if I'm not mistaken.

Re: To G35, Or Not To G35? That Is The Question.

I've called all across the country searching for a cloth interior, but no luck. So, leather interior is fine with me.

I've come across a new 2004 350Z for $25,000. This is making me have second thoughts about the G35. That's a difference of more than $5,000 even before haggling with the price.

Rrrrrrr this is giving me a headache.
