no, there's no need. only reason OEM had 'em is because they where hella heavy.

+1. They're light as hell, but my installer went ahead and welded brackets onto them anyway. I couldn't be mad because he was just trying to help, but if you see how thin the walls of those CATs are.. welding just ups the risk for a leak.

true, i ordered berks but was just wondering about kinetix.. i put the order on hold because i read a few people talking over at the 350z site about their berks hfc's and how they came apart but i think they were FI. so im looking at kinetix as an alternative. i can see how them being lighter you dont need it.. but since the only connections in the exhaust before and after the cats are at the headers and after the xyz pipe.. i feel like itd be safer to have a mount.

does anyone have a dyno chart comparing the two ?

think of it this way, the Berks are the only HFCs w/mounting tabs(beside's the Nismo sport cats witch are a beefier design). every other brand deemed it unnecessary for cats and test pipes. you'll be fine without and w/o mounts, you can ditch the brackets they mount to and save even more weight. there are also quite a few posts about Berks having rasp issues but i'd prob blame that on there exhaust combos.

there won't be any real differences in gain's for one HFC vs another.

true, I will probably settle for the Berks.. I have OEM exhaust as of now but will soon get getting the motordyne xyz pipe.. the mod bug is hitting me hard !
