Transmission Problem ( need help)

ok this is kind of hard to explain. I have a 2004 5at coupe. A couple of months ago i noticed that when i downshift from 4th gear to 3rd it feels as if the gear doesnt catch unless i press the gas pedal then the rpms would match the engine speed and everything would work fine. This past friday this started happening to my 2nd gear and 3rd gear however now if i release the gas pedal while im in 2nd or 3rd gear the rpms drop as if i had put it in neutral and would only match the engine speed if i press the gas pedal. ( im sorry if this is confusing) but now i also have no 5th gear, when i am in 5th gear it feels as if i am in neutral whether i press the gas pedal or not. I have no idea what this could be or if this could be do to my transgo shift kit that was installed back in November,? any suggestions or has this happen to anyone else i tried searching but couldnt find anything

You can have your trans scanned to see if it is doing what the pcm is telling it, if not you know the problem is internal to the trans. Johnny at Pacific trans here in So. Cal was telling me about G's getting coolant from the radiator mounted cooler mixed in the trans fluid, he actually had an 03 G he was repairing when I was last their, so take a look at your trans fluid.

so the shop said that its one of my solenoids that are bad that you might as well replace them all since i guess them come in packs. he also said that i might need a new converter but wouldnt kno untill he drops the tranny all in all with labor he is charging $1600.00 Does that seem like a right price. And would of the transgo shift kit had caused the solenoids to go? i thought the shift kit would pro long the use of the transmission not mess it up?

You would think it would prolong the engine. However you are downshifting on a 04 5AT, these were not equipped with downshift rev matching like 05+ are. This could of caused damage to the tranny if you were consistently dropping gears.

i never downshift into 1st gear , so when i get the g back i shouldnt really be downshifting with the kit installed? Cause i never had a problem before the kit
