Excellent question. My car has required nothing other than maintenance in the last three years that I've owned it. My relatives or freinds that have Civics or Accords spend no more than on maintenance. Granted, both this folks as well as I, bought our cars new, therefore we know the history and have spent the $$ maintaining our cars.
Now, quite a bit of new members on here are buying 03' and 04' models with high mileage that are entirely beat up. They have: worn out transmissions, clutches, brakes, tires, stereos, well, I'm sure you get the picture. Then again, they're spending 10K or less on this cars, of course they're going to be ragged out and bringing them up to spec is gonna be hella expensive. It's such a waste of $$$ to buy a car that's on it's last leg. Again, your car is not in the same category but you paid three times as much, hence the lack of problems.

If your not into all the hassles like I am dint get it, I sold mine awhile back from all the problems and now the guy that bought mine told me a week ago that the motor has a cracked head or sum thing, to me it was a nightmare with all the problems that I had and I didn't have the time or dedication to deal with it, my car was an 05 with 44k miles. I loved owning it as many others will agree but sadly I wouldn't go down that road again. Although this is one of the sexiest cars out there

[QUOTE=dooscoop32;5935265]Hi guys,

I am new to this forum. I have admired and lusted after the G35 coupes since 2003. I presently own an older Cadillac which is having electrical/electronic issues at the current time.
answer:....WE ALL know that the condition of a car will be dependent on how it was taken care of in the past...I bought my car from a dealer. He told me they knew the owner and it was "lusted after"...they only put on new tires & pads. the car was flawless with 46000 after driving this car for 15 months I am as happy with it as the day I bought it...this is a 6MT and I would not have anything else.

If that's something that really bothers you, maybe a G35 isn't right for you.
This looking for a car with a great interior is pure crap. I own a 2003 which has the titanium painted plastic center console and I love it. The seats are very comfortable and all the super crap about rattles and such is just that crap. If you do have a rattle fix it. Infiniti has issued a TSB for almost every rattle. Go to Infinitihelp and look it up. I've owned my coupe since December 2002 so I think I know more than someone who has researched but doesn't own one. they're great cars and alot of fun to drive. As you can see by my sig I also own a $60,000 Mecerdes Benz and the Infiniti is not lacking in comfort and style.

In most forums you'll find only a tiny fraction of all the actual brand owners - there are tens and tens of thousands of G owners that haven't posted about their cars. People also tend to post about problems with their car to both learn how to fix it and to see if anyone else has the same issue - it often gives a car a negative impression.
+1000 Problems on forums are common problems you MIGHT see with your car, they're good to know about and the fix is readily available. Based on this forum: we all have leaky valve covers, nobody has a functioning radio, and EVERY 05+ 6MT with revup engine is burning oil.

Thought I might mention that the only person to ever complain about my car was my dad. His complaint was that they made the seats for a young skinny man and that a fat old guy like himself couldnt drive with the seats

I absolutely hate to say this but...my E Coupe Mercedes has 14 way adjustable seats...adjustable airbags on both sides of the seats...the seat bolsters...the front to back length of the seat. It has heated...air conditiond seats and they will give you a massage. The point... the G35 seats are more comfortable.

I'm a at 94k and the only things I've had to replace in 50k miles of ownership are a window motor, camshaft sensor, and crankshaft sensor. I also had the "peeling glovebox" issue which was fixed with 2 hours and a tube of black weatherstripping. All DIY jobs (the most recent being the crankshaft sensor - took me 10 minutes and 7 of that was pulling out and putting back the jack)

Total repair costs (not including maintenance) for an 04 g35 6mt? ~$300

I went and looked at a 335i convertible a couple weeks ago. basically the same setup on seats as your e series coupe. I got it in and was wanting more side supports. I turned the side supports to the max and wasn't happy still. The g35 seat might not be super adjustable compared to the new luxury cars, but it's still more comfortable and I wouldn't trade them for anything short of Recaro's or gt3 seats.
