Thumbs up a shiffer question (MT)

i have been reading a lot of threads about short shifters and i have seen that everyone have the same problem " theres same play when is in gear " some of them say is 1/2" and others 1".
So0o0o0o...
i have been thinking why not just cut like 1" or 2" of the oem shifter and then welded it together? wouldnt that solve the problem of the play when is gear? and most importantly we would save some money
what do you guys think?

When anyone talks about a SHORT SHIFTER they're not refering to the height but the distance it takes to engage each gear....shorter throw! I've done what your posting about, bought a Short Throw Shifter cut off several inches and rethreaded it to fit the shifter ball. You end up with a very short, short throw shifter and they work great....just not cheap!

+1 and there will probably still be some play when in gear anyway, but the Rogue shifter is pretty sweet.
