Muffler piping has a ground wire bolted to it?

I was taking off my muffler bolts to put on new ones and try to fix this rattling sound I get from the exhaust when I go into too high of a gear. It looked like a normal silver looking wire wired to a ring, and the ring was bolted into the muffler-to-catalytic pipe part. Does everyone else's G35 have that too?

I was wondering what it's for.

Exhaust electrolysis

It reduces static buildup to the pipes.... Hard to stomach but it is what it is.

Oh thanks Eric!
Feel free to delete this thread as there is already a thread explaining so. My apologies.
