Non-Existent Sport Mode

I have noticed this since I bought the car, but I have never asked the question. Why is there an "S" in the gear selection display on the dashboard? It is right below the M, and you can see it if you get the right lighting. The thing is, there is no sport mode on my 2004 5AT Coupe. Only P, R, N, D, M(1-5). There is no option for sport mode, as far as I know. If I am correct in what I am saying, why is the "S" there? Thanks!

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say it's the same display used for both models. Only difference is the ECU displays the setting when the vehicle is actually equipped with that option?? Again, just a guess.

I don't think my car has a snow mode, it's RWD, not AWD.

Equipped with sport mode? I don't think it is an option? I have never heard of any G35 coupe having sport mode (which would be different than manumatic mode). Of course, I could be entirely, 100% wrong.

The clusters for AWD and RWD are the same. I also believe the S is for the snow as well.

Ok, that makes sense. And, since G35 coupes do not have snow mode/AWD, then the "S" will never be illuminated, correct?

The S is not illuminated even with snow mode activated. I have a 2004 G35X

Sounds like it was a feature that was built into the design but never implemented. The HVAC display also has at least one of these.
