Looking at a G35 and need some input...

Im looking at an 06 G35 with 65,000 miles. Im worried about the mileage of this car because i plan to keep this car for 4+ years. I would be devestated if i were to get this car and something would happen after a year or less of owning it. How long do these cars hold up for? What are the things i should be looking for if i go to check it out? Anyone have or had any similar problems? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

Dude, just get a warranty if you're so worried about being devastated by a car problem

I personally have seen a 2003 G35 sedan with 230k on it and the only thing that was changed were the compression and two window motors everything else is original ( qwear and tear items obviously were changes tires and rotors/pads). It depends how you maintain and take care of the car.

I bought mine at 47K, drove it for more than four years, and accumilated more than 80K miles of my own. When I sold the car it has 127k+ miles and still running strong.
Its a good car... but like all cars or things...., you have to take care of it.

You can easily go to 200k plus miles if you take care of the car, there have been quite a few members that have gotten in the high 100k's while still having no problems.

See if you can get the maintance records for the car. If the previous owner(s) have taken care of the car, there's no reason why it won't last you at least 4 years. The mileage is pretty average for an 06. If it's a MT, be sure to take note of possible oil consumption since it does have a rev-up. That's the only real problem to look out for. Anything else is just small wear and tear stuff (suspension, brakes, belts, etc) that will need replacing later down the road. If you want the peace of mind, get a warranty. GL!

If you don't plan on putting mods into the car and do your regular maintenance then you should be fine and get 4+ years out of it.

65k miles is NOTHING.. if you take care of it like all the basic wear and tear stuff than you should get to and pass up 200k easily... i've got 107k on mine and the only things that i've had a problem are the actuator in the gas lid dying and my stock headunit dying on me. That was a bigger issue cause ended up spending alot more on an aftermarket unit and it's one of the more common issues that people tend to have.

Besides that there's really not much to worry about. You might want to change out the compression rod bushings if do get the car after because the ones in the car might be really shot and getting new ones would help your improve your ride quality by a good amount.

Thanks for all the replies! What are the things that need to be replaced at this mileage or down the road?

Take the car to your infiniti dealership if you buy it and have them do the 60k mile maint. package if the previous owner didn't do it. That will cover a large portion of maint and inspection. That is your best bet. As people have said 65k is nothing on these cars. I've over 90k now and running strong. With the 60k maint package that will cover all you need to replace at this moment in time unless they find something beyond that wrong(Drive belts etc).

Since no one else has said anything yet... lol

Umm compression rod bushings are probably shot so you can probably get those replaced and you'll notice a nice difference in your ride quality and handling. Do a search on them because there're different types and it'll be different if you have a different preference.

I'm using the SPL full metal bushings at the momment. Also you might want to replace the lower control arm bushings. Those are the two main ones. For those I just went with White Line plus poly urethane bushings.

The rest umm.. oil.. brakes, brakepads.. fluids, belts.. I can't really think of anything major besides those.

I got my '04 Lazer Red with 50k on it. It has the axle click problem and that's it.

The shifter is tight. Clutch is strong. Brakes are good. Engine doesn't consume oil... Other than some paint issues, its solid.
