I didn't Pass Inspection Because Of My Rear Side Marker Light

The backlight on the side.. the small little light was out so I failed inspection. Could this be because the bulb is dead? Or a fuse?

How would I go about replacing it if its the bulb? Seems like it would be hard to get to.

If you're referring to your taillight where it lights up on the side, then yes, it is just a bulb.

Easy to replace. Just remove the plastic trim above your trunk latch. It pops right off. Then partially remove some of the trunk liner. Should be like 3 push clips. The taillight is held on by 3 nuts. Remove those, disconnect the plug, and slide the taillight out.

I have to replace one of mine as well, I never looked into it, but I thought it was an LED as well? (not arguing, it will be easier to replace if it's just a bulb).

Also, do you think the taillights would look better with the sides lit, or without them?

There's nothing to mess up unless you drop your tail light on the ground lol. Just do it and you'll see how easy it is.

No, it is just a bulb. I had to replace one in mine last month.

Some of our new members scare me with their lack of knowledge and inabilities, reminds me of the joke "How many Pollocks does it take to change a light bulb?" "One to hold the bulb and four to turn the stool!" :OHBOY:

I think alot of people that purchase these vehicles believe them to be a "pricey import", which they really aren't. Probably the reason most new members are so tentiative to get their hands dirty and try some entry level fixes and upgrades. FYI, youtube is a great place to find some DIY videos, everything from the MD spacers to taillight bulb replacement.

They are making changing lights more of a pain on a lot of newer cars as well. It used to be easier to pop the hood and change a bulb, but now they recommend you bring the car in to be serviced. My bro and I have taken the front bumpers off enough cars that it isn't impossible for us (just a pain), but for your average (maybe?) person, they aren't going to go outside and remove their front bumper.

Actually had a friend not long ago pay $120-$130, I believe, to change the headlight bulb on his Dodge Caliber.

edit: And for the record, I actually like doing as much as I can, makes you feel accomplished :)
