Bushings on the other end of the compression rod?
Bushings on the other end of the compression rod?
Ok, so it's pretty well known that the compression rod bushings suck, which is the larger of the two bushings (residing in the circle) in the compression rod.
However, what about that smaller bushing that kind of sticks up and out of the other end? How does that hold up?
The reason I'm asking is because one of my compression rod bushings was reported as cracked during a dealer inspection, and it makes sense since the car pulls to that side during low speed braking.
So my question is if right now I'm better off buying new compression rods and putting those on, or putting the money toward SPL aluminum bushings seen here:
Obviously buying new compression rods is going to cost a LOT more, so I'm leaning toward the bushing route. Does anyone know if there are bushings replacements for those other bushings I just spoke of (the one on the other end of the rod)?
I tried searching but all the threads were on the compression rod bushing itself, and not the other bushing.

Revo, the part of the compression rod you are talking about is called the ball joint. There is no replacement for just that part; you have to buy the whole rod. They don't usually go bad, but check out this thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-...ushings-4.html. Post #195 begins talking about the ball joint.
If your ball joint is still good, your choices are:
1. Replace the whole rod. High part cost but easiest to install. The bushing will most likely go bad again especially if you are lowered.
2. Replace the bushing with an OEM bushing. Lowest part cost, but will go bad again.
3. Buy aftermarket bushing such as SPL or Energy Suspension. The SPL parts are expensive. Some love them, but others say they are too noisy. I bought Energy Suspension from a member here for $60.
If you get just the bushings, you will need access to a press to get the old ones out and the new ones in.
