TSB will not be covered unless under warranty.
Only a recall will be free of charge

My seat is doing the same ****.
Luckily only the driver looks anywhere near the driver's seat handle.

+1 Car must be under warranty for any TSB to be covered.

You're outta luck. But maybe if you get some other work done at the dealership, you can mention the TSB and ask them if there's anything they can do. I got a Nissan Regional Manager or whatever it is to approve the replacement of both Cats and the down-pipe on my '03 Sentra SE-R when the primary blew apart and destroyed the secondary cat at 80,700 miles- just outside the 80K federal mandate on emissions systems. I had them start the work before they checked into it, but I also had them do about $500 in work on top of the $1600 it was going to be for the cats. (Fluid flushes and dropping the oil pan to clean it of any cat debris sucked back into the engine. I found at least half a cup of thick white goop in the oil change I did as soon as the problem happened. I'm assuming that's the cat material that scoured my piston walls before I traded in on the G.)

+2 on TSB only under warranty. A TSB is not a safety issue or a major malfunction. There are plenty of vehicles with 50+ TSB's like ours. TSB's are just issued when an issue is found with a number of customers so that the cause of the issue and the solution become available to all dealerships. That way, when you drop your car off with that tear, and they fix it, they realize that they can't just replace the cushion, because there's a sharp edge of the seat structure that is the actual CAUSE of the tear, so they must trim that edge back so that it won't cut into and tear the replacement cushion.

I bought my car used from the dealership, and it was still well under warranty when I pointed this out. I knew about the TSB but didn't mention it when I dropped it off.. I wanted to test them. They called back and said they were replacing the entire cushion. When I picked it up, the service writer showed me how much the "cost" for the part is out of warranty.. and I couldn't decide if I should **** myself, laugh endlessly til I drove away, or slap him. Luckily I did none of that. $2400 just for the foam with the leather cover. He said the back to a front seat on an FX model was replaced the prior month, for $7000. Not the entire seat, just the back rest and head restraint. How do they live with themselves quoting prices like that?

What is the fix in the TSB? do they enlarge the gap or put in some kind of anti-chafing strip?
