03-07 18 inch OEM wheel question

I have repeatedly seen statements that the 18 x 8 wheel is the same for both front and rear but find that a different factory part number is used (73672 front and 73673 rear).

Are they in fact different wheels and not interchangeable?

Think about this Gary, if they are the same why would the factory add that stud to the front hub so they can't be interchanged? There must be a difference.... or not?

This may be nothing more than an uneducated guess, but I figure the wheels are the same, with the exception of the pin on the front wheels. Since the 18" coupe wheels had staggered tires (not rims, but tires only), the pin on the front wheels would keep you from rotating the front to the back.

The part numbers are different between the fronts and rears, but my guess the difference is the pin (which would indicate "front" wheels).

Does that sound far fetched?

I see. I thought that pin was rigged on there by some shop when I took my wheels off to put new ones on. I just removed it alltogether.

With the 17s there is a difference in the front and rear rim width. Some owners have gotten disgusted with the tire wear issue and eliminated the staggered setup allowing to do the tire rotations. I don't remember if the 18s have the same rim width front and rear.
