Question stillen z tube/air box intake vs oem rev up?

is the stillen air box and z tube setup worth $250 or should i just go with an oem z tube and 06+ revup air box?

go to the intake forum and read the big post about intakes, or run a search, before making a thread like this.

My vote goes to Stillens CAI/Z-Tube combo. I ran that for several years, if it was pretty/polished I'd still be using it....now it's my backup in case the smog cops give me a rash.

So you are seriously asking if you should pay more for a stillen intake to have essentially no additional power, if not less?? It is your money, throw it away all you want.

That's the problem with intakes on the G. Everyone has an opinion so you're going to get the same responses in this thread as every other intake thread gets. Truth is, intakes as a general rule on the G do not produce power gains just more noise. If you want performance stick with the stock airbox with a drop in filter. If sound is what you are after, just about any aftermarket intake for the G will do the trick.

HTH.

Everyone may have an opinion on what sounds the best, or if they prefer the look or sounds of one, but the dynos have been done for most intakes proving power gains/losses. Now if a loss of power is worth the sound of an intake is based on personal opinion.

Not really. Look up sexyrob's thread dynoing the myth of intake mods. He dynoed a bunch of different set up and posted the results.

I've ran into the same exact issues before and here's what I think:
1. My butt dyno does not feel any gains between the 2 intakes. I swapped the 2 intakes on and off about 3 times to compare... Each time I do the swap, I feel like the other feels better... Why? Because each time I swap it, I have the filters cleaned. So imo, any gains are due to a used filter in your car vs. A clean filter.

2. Dynos that show Stillen increase in hp? Well your hood is open when you do the dyno... So you are ruling out the heat soak issue when the hood is closed.

3. If you're like me and drive in the city a lot / traffic, stick with the rev up box to avoid the heat soak. You can feel the difference after some traffic. Just listen to the radiator when in traffic.

Lastly, I have to admit; the Stillen intake does produce better sound, but the whistle does get old after a while...
