2 newbie questions

1. How good is the Z tube? How much? Any disadvantage?
2. How do we replace the clearance light bulb(not sidemarker)? Is bright yellow(amber) legal? Is it diffcult to change to LED? Any disadvantage with LED?

thank you for any reply.

You can access the clearance light through the wheel well. Remove the liner (take off clips and two screws) and it will be a black plastic rectangular tab sticking out located above and to the side of the fog light and low beams. Give the tab a half turn and pull out. Get latex gloves and pull out the old bulb and put in the LED bulb. It has to been in a certain orientation so check and turn on your lights to make sure you put it in the right way. As to there being a disadvantage, the only downside is that IMO it doesn't fill up the entire clearance strip strong enough. But the color (PIAA xtreme white/white) makes up for it. Good luck.

to answer your question #1.

Z-tube is nothing more than a tube without the resonator. When installed it gives a better sound at WOT. HP gains are negligible....IMHO

I think the Z-tube has a slightly larger diameter than the stock G35 tube. People have reported a couple ponies but it is mainly for the louder growl.

Thank you so much for the reply.

Will i void the warranty of the car if i change to LED blub or the Z tube? It is only 3 weeks old and it will get factor maintenance.

Oh, does the Z tube require professional install? i am a newbie to car mechanic.

Is crystal yellow (amber) blub for clearance light street legal? I live in CA

Not likely unless you really screw something up while installing either item. But because they are very simply that also is not likely.

We need to take out the wheel to do that?

No need to take out the wheel, just turn it inside and away. Then jack it up!

The first time you do it however, it may be easier to just take off the wheel so you can see all the fasteners for the wheel wel trim. Also, if your'e ever in there to replace the Halogens or HIDs, having the wheel off makes it easier to not contaminate the bulb surfaces.

Going to the clearance light

There are many screws on the side of the wheelwall on top of the wheel, am I suppose to take all of them out?

And under the front bumper, a thin long plastic (pic) and the engine cover over lap the wheel wall cover, do I have to take it off too?

Please help me out.
