New JWT Clutch & Flywheel but car won't start?
Hey guys, I had a JWT clutch and flywheel installed on my car about 2 years ago. I've been having problems starting the car at times and the problem started from day 1 of the install.
At times when I try to start the car, the car doesn't start but I can hear what seems like like the flywheel and starter grinding. It's a loud metal to metal as if the teeth on the starter are not aligned with the flywheel.
This happens time to time but sometimes it will happen multiple times a day. When this occurs, if I try to crank it right up again, it will do the same thing. But if I wait about 15 seconds and then try to crank it again, the car will start up just fine. I asked the tech the day of the install about it and he said he doesn't know what it could be. He confirmed that the flywheel can only go in one way and so it has to be aligned properly. He refused to take down the tranny again so I was at a lost.
Has anyone else had this problem? It's gotten to a point where it's getting embarassing @ times and I just want to finally fix it during the holiday break. I was thinking of just buying another clutch/flywheel kit and having that installed but I really don't want to go through all that if the problem can be fixed another way.
I understand that there is a crank position sensor or a some type of crank sensor near the flywheel...could this be the problem?
Any help would be appreciated!

I am having a similar problem on my 2005 6MT coupe (38k mileage), took a ACT clutch kit (from THMotorsports -- HDSS, Streetlight flywheel) in for an install, and now my shop cannot get the car to start, it'll crank but not turn over... Anyone else having issues like this?
My mechanic thinks it's the flywheel, but that doesn't make sense to me.
HELP!

I had the JWT kit on my 350z and i had the same problem. I took out the clutch at flywheel and my flywheel was shredded and missing some teeth. I replaced the flywheel and problem was solved (but that whole process takes unbelievably long). I have a LUK dual mass flywheel for g35's for sale with 13,000 miles. Since its dual mass it won't make any noise. Let me know if you are interested. If not from me, make sure you save it with a new flywheel.
