.. just curious. Some dude in a 3000GT wanted to race me, but I had a tee time and could not oblige. He was NOT a VR4 owner, and from what I understand, a 3000GT w/o VR4 is pretty damn snow. Any comments?

 

Yes, the non-VR4's are nothing. I have beaten one quite handily in my Lincoln Mark VIII and the G35 is a slight bit quicker than my Mark so you should walk him.

yes the 3000gt SL is a tank. I heard the "SL" stands for slow [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]. The VR4 is a different car.

they are damn slow....the base model (not SL) has like 160hp and the SL has 218. They're probably as fast as a civic.

3000GTs are very heavy cars. The non-VR4 will be a cakewalk like most people here have said.

 

So, when an idiot in a basic 3000GT wants to race, are they just stupid? I hate wasting 93 octane on someone I already know I can beat hands down. Can I show them I sign or something?

 

Even the VR-4 takes twin turbos to get 300-320 (depending on the year) out of it's V6. I think it weighs more than we do with the all-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering mechanisms. They were amazing for their time, I was drooling over them when they first came out... but they're 10 years out of date now.

I'm not sure, I believe the VR4's had different tires than the others?
I feel so sorry for those who bought the 3000GT, it was an expensive car, and in the day it was fast, but now it's just a beast. (VR4 exception of course).

 

Last time I took my VR-4 to the track, it weighed in at 3900lb with me in it, but that 3900lb's could do the 1/4mile in 12.5 seconds. Might be out of date, but can still spank the sh-t out of my G35 coupe.

This makes me wonder how much an AWD G35 Coupe could do the 1/4 mile. Any Ideas?

 

slower... it will add weight plus AWD system has more drivetrain loss than RWD.. meaning less hp to the wheels and more weight = slower
then again nissan's AWD is differ than those other company's AWD but I doubt they will add hp but maybe little bit less drivetrain loss.

One thing you can count on with AWD are really good 60 foot times.

But I'd agree, unless it were turbocharged, it'd probably do worse than the rwd sedan.
