Question Visually, how can you recognize the Aero Package?

Hey guys, great site! I currently have a slightly modified Maxima, and I'm looking to upgrade to a used 6MT.

The car I am looking to buy is listed as having the Aero Package on their website, but when I saw the car in person, the salesman claimed it did not have it. It did have the spoiler, but I wasn't sure how to figure it out for myself if it has the Aero package.

So I suppose I am curious as to what the Read underbody air diffusers look like (since it has the spoiler). Maybe some pics will help me? Any info would be helpfull.

Thanks!

The easiest way is to see if it has a front lip. You can see the front lip on the top picture of my car, and compare it to the one below which doesn't have it.

I don't have a picture of the diffusers, but it's possible to have the diffusers without the front lip, but not the other way around. (unless the lip was installed manually) But even then, most people I know that installed it manually, still had the underbody diffusers, as I believe they just didn't want the factory rear spoiler.

Don't get the Aero Package and the Aero kit confused.

Aero package = spoiler and underbody air diffusers
Aero kit = front lip spoiler, underbody air diffusers, with or without the spoiler (most commonly with)

He's asking about the Aero Package and the only way for the car to have a spoiler and still not have the Aero package is if the first owner installed it separately after they bought the car. In that case chances are it doesn't have the underbody diffusers, unless the owner went as far as installing them too.

Not sure if Nissan have additional information as far as packages if you give them the VIN.

My bad. I was thinking he just wanted to know if he had the diffusers or not. If I remember, I think in order to get the Aero Kit, you have to get the Aero Package with it. I remember a thread on that a while ago... How much are the diffusers anyways, if you get them separately? (or if yours bust off or something)

Wow, ok guess I knew even less about it than I thought =)

Thanks for the pictures and info guys, I can easily say it doesn't have the front lip.

I'll see if I can find some pictures...

Looks like it doesn't have anything but the spolier?

Maybe the dealer meant to say it didn't have the Aero kit, but he said it didn't have the Aero package instead. It has the spoiler, so my best guess is that it has the aero.

Doesn't the aero come with splash guards though?

That's what I used to think, but I've seen many many coupes with spoiler and w/o splash guards. Apparently the splash guards are optional just like the BSM. If you check on Infiniti, you'll see that they're just an $200 option.

Ok, so it has the Aero Package, and does not have the Aero kit...unless the spoiler was installed post purchase.

Thanks for clearing it up guys. I'm going to take my second look at the car tomorrow, and if all goes well I may finally own my G =)

I know the stone chips are freaking killing me! Nothing makes me more upset than chips. All I have to say is that I wish I bought the Clear Bra! Oh well... I hear a respray in a couple of years is pretty reasonably priced.

For '05:

Aero Package ($550)= Rear spoiler & 2 rear underbody air diffusers (all factory installed)(only available on the Auto model w/ the sport-tuned suspension package or the 6MT model)

Aero Kit ($630)= Front chin spoiler & splash guards (Option REQUIRES Aero Package)(All factory installed)

Aero Kit (with Spoiler) ($1200)= Rear spoiler, 2 rear underbody air diffusers, 2 under covers, front chin spoiler, splash guards (All factory installed)

Splash guards only ($200)= factory installed

This was from the Build your G35 section of Infiniti's website.

Get factory installed if you can if you want this stuff. They do a better job than the dealers seem to as far as getting things lined up perfect.

Of course, you can get the rear spoiler, front chin spoiler, and splash guards installed by the dealer. I suppose they could get the diffusers and install them also.

My '04 6MT has the Aero Kit (with Spoiler) version. It has all the aero parts possible. You can see pics in the Gallery.

These packages seem changed slightly from '04. In '04 the Aero Kit came in two versions, with rear spoiler and without rear spoiler. They seem to have slightly changed the descriptions with 3 factory packages to choose instead of 4.
