The oil consumption issue is mostly related to the rev-up engine in the 05+ 6MT. So long as you treat your car reasonably well, and keep up with oil changes and other scheduled maintenance, there's a very good likelihood you'll not have any serious issues for at least another 100,000 miles.

I have the same year AT, at 63,000 miles, and I'm confident it'll be at least ten years before I have to do any major engine work. It's kind of sad in a way, because I'd love an excuse to do a VK56 or LS swap into mine.

I guess i can breath a little better, i was a little skeptical. A VK56 sound's like a nice setup, although I wonder how it will sound...

The G35 has the oil consumption issue. I talked to a Nissan tech, and he said as long as it's not eating like a quart every few months, just keep an eye on it and just fill as needed. I always checked about every 4 months and would have to add about 1/4 quart. I changed my oil myself and used Mobil 1 and changed once a year. I only put about 8500 miles a year.

Dont worry to much. Our cars are pretty reliable as long as you keep up with the maintenance and stuff.
