Is it true in the State of California that if you have smoked tail lights, and you get rear ended it's no matter whats it's your fault!?

Thanks!

Smoked tail lights are illegal in Cali, so they could use that against you.

Yes it is true. This could definitely be use against you. Our cars have all LED set up which makes our tail lights much brighter than most cars. This has always been my argument as to why, even when smoked, our tail lights are probably brighter than un smoked cars. But even so, a mediocre lawyer will see that and run with it.

I've got a ticket for it before in my old car, I wouldn't recommend it in Cali.

ah ha, but as i read a year or so ago, if the tail lights can be seen from less then 200 meters away then it is perfectly legal, unless they happened to change the law... OR you could use bluebatmobile's gtr style tails that don't block the led's

As a resident of CA. that's....^....your best option if you need smoked tails so you're not breaking any laws. We have members with GT-R style painted tails that don't get tickets!

I have 4 brake lights 2 of which are unsmoked/untinted. I have my left and right tail lights then my in glass 3rd light hooked up and my spoiler 3rd light hooked up making 4 lights so if they hit me and can't see all those I don't think it would be my fault lol

You can smoke them in CA if you don't smoke the reverse lights. 100% smoke is against the law though. That's what I always had in CA and no problems but I guess it's your call.
