Now I'm wondering if the sub I'm looking to install won't sound as loud as I want to just like the JL you had... But since I have the sub and amp already I might as well give it a shot.
I'm an audiophile for sure. you should see my theater setup at home, LOL.

I had those 2 JL 12's in my last car (G20) and it beats pretty good, going to just one of them wasn't enough. However this new beastlier sub hands down is better than both of those mid quality JL subs.

Fi. Q is a BEAST, you'll need more than 300 watts tho. It's an extremely high output SQ driver.

It has a reasonable price too.

I have A side mount box similar to the 4080 box with a 12 and for the size of the box It will thump and you can't tell which direction the sound is coming from. If you want to loose room go with the zenclosure/subthump which is a cheaper option than the 4080. It all depends on matching the box size to the sub and powering the sub properly.

Where did you buy the enclosure? I've only been able to find side enclosures for 10's... and how much did you pay?

http://www.zenclosures.com/

I was able to get them to take off $10 from the price and throw in the door spacers for free.

Sorry sir but I was actually asking where meister23 got his 12" side enclosure from. I think the link I provided in the 1st post was actually cheaper than the zenclosure link but I haven't seen if they are the exact same specs.

They have an ebay store they sell on as well, i think they offer $10 off their website price, so it may have been $20 off plus the spacers.

I just checked ebay and didnt see any boxes for sale. (didnt search hard)

I had Boxology same people as the original 4080 box do a custom box to hold a RE Audio SEx 12, they also notched the box because I have a rear strut bar in my trunk. If you want their contact info let me know I will PM you.

from my own experience a down firing sub in the G is your best option. you can fit any size sub you want. i had the 15" rockford fosgate P315D4 down firing in my trunk and it eliminated a ton of rattles and sounded great (also have 50 ft2 of dynamat lining trunk and rear panels)

I had 2 JL W6's with a Alpine 500w amp going to each in a sealed custom box in my 05 Coupe and is was plenty loud an more base than you could want. They were Rear facing. The Subs/Amps/Box are are couple of the only things I have left from my G . Too bad they won't fit in my truck or I would install them. Instead they will be on the Marketplace real soon. I also ran a cap.

Thanks for all your input guys! I'm going to look into some more audio shops around here to see if they could give me a cheaper quote and if not then I guess I'll give the rear facing enclosure a try.
