I purchased the car from Craigslist. The seller disappeared right afterwards.
Considering the amount of money I've already spent on this car there's no way I can justify spending this much money on the repair and unfortunately after I take yet another hit on the trade in value I'll be a total of around 7k in the hole

However my clutch went bad also weeks after i bought mine. I knew it was coming but not that soon. JWT combo costed me 820 shipped to Canada. However installation was $1100
I purchased the engine from eBay with a 30 day warranty. My original mechanic was MIA with my car and the motor for 3 weeks when I finally got everything back in my possession the shop was already pretty booked and didn't finish the swap before the warranty ran oit
Soooo... After looking at all the finances and possible trade in values I think I'm just gonna drive it minimally for a while and fix it later in the spring maybe. In poor condition the trade in value is like 9500 they would prob give me even less if the caught the head gasket and not to mention I just bought it for 11k and already spent about 4k in repairs I really can't afford to take any more hits with. It doesnt help that the only sub the wife is interested in is a newer Tahoe. So I'm just honna attempt to power pay it off in the next year and work on it slowly and pick up the Tahoe next year. I just hope I don't run into crazy more problems
Thanks everybody for your input and advice

I wouldn't get in a rush to pay the car loan down until I'd built up an emergency fund of at least $2,000, and I wouldn't even be thinking about trading for another vehicle for at least five years...preferably longer. Unless someone is extremely lucky, and/or extremely good, they'll lose several thousand dollars every time they trade a vehicle in...and it doesn't really seem from what I've read that you have money to burn yet.

Just hang around this place for awhile. Get to know your locals. If you're cool, one night in the future I'm sure a group of guys would sit around and help you get this job done for a few packs of beer (and possibly a hooker - be careful of some of these weirdos).
I would love to try and change this thing out myself however time and weather are an issue at the moment. Fortunately I live less than a mile from my work so I really don't need to drive it which I wasn't planning on driving it that much in the winter anyways considering its my first rear wheel drive car. So my options are changing it myself when it gets nicer outside or letting it sit and slowly pile together parts for it, reading alot and possibly since ive already replaced to the motor with no luck, maybe piecing together a LS swap over time. Lots to think about.
We have a great community that helps out it's own.
The worst part is my best friend is a mechanic. Went to school for it and worked at a dealership for a while. He quit and I have most of his tools in my garage. He's so lazy though and won't help with anything. He's like a woman and needs the best conditions to even look at something... For instance it has to be perfect weather outside for him to even look at anything. We've actually drifted apart lately because he's so unmotivated and useless. I haven't even told him anything about my car, I tried when the engine needed replacing saying I was thinking about taking a trip to pick up some things to take on the swap myself and that I just wish I had somebody with a little bit of know how to point me in the right direction and he never even offered any type of assistance whatsoever. After 25k in school loans, about 15k in tools, the mother f*cker works at sprint!! Smh lol
Your best bet would be to get a copy of the Official Workshop Manual it is a step by step guide which shows the removal and links to other steps required. You could possibly do the tear down and the cleanup and then if you could find someone knowledgeable to guide you through the rebuild process (Maybe an Infiniti mechanic that could use a few extra bucks, dealer charges $100 an hour but the mech's don't get that). Your going to have to be a little creative here. Any good friends that could lend you their garage?
