The Skyline is coming and 2007 is the year !!!
The February issue of Sport Compact Car (of which is just now hitting the shelves) completely uncovers all available info on the 2007 Skyline GT-R, of which will be hitting American shores as a 2007 model sometime in early 2006. Rumor has it that it will be dubbed the "Infiniti GT-R" as Nissan has supposedly registered the trademark. Exterior deisgn is basically the same as the G (after all it is the currently skyline) but what will come under the hood should be real interesting. The GT-R will eithier feature the Q45's V8 for a grand total of 400 ponies or a Twin Turbo version VQ series putting out around 460. Drivetrain will be AWD very similar to that of the ATTESA system on R34's. As far as the tranny is concerned, rumors have it that there will be a Getrag seven speed gearbox !! Finally, to add to the rumor mill, supposedly Lotus is aiding Nissan in tuning the suspension !! Pretty bad ***!! Sorry if this is a repost but I've been hearing the buzz about finally selling bringing this bad boy to the US, and to see an article about it made me pretty damn excited. Thought you all would be interested. I tried to get a pic but didn't have much luck other then this little one below. Everything should be about the same on the production GT-R, except for the addition of a differential grill and revised air dam for better flow to the intercoolers.
thats the same picture edmunds has. i seriously doubt itll look like that. thats a horrible photoshop as it is.

100% speculation. They uncovered NOTHING. The same picture and article was in Motor Trend many month ago. This picture has been floating around for a long time. The only announcement that will be correct will be found on www.nissannews.com. All else is just pure rumors.
First of all, the skyline already came. But assuming you meant GT-R...
you dont need SCC to tell you the only known facts:
1. nissan has stated that the next gtr will be global
2. nissan has stated that they intend(ed) on announcing it in 2007
3. nissan has trademarked "infiniti gtr" in some countries
4. all pics posted are photoshops, except those of the gt-r concept that nissan themselves showed.
5. no other facts are known ... a magazine's guess is just about as good as yours; they get some of their guesses from these forums.
it is NOT likely that it will be Skyline V35/G35C based IMO. think about it- the GTR will be a halo sports car.. why base it off of a 6 year old design that itself was based off of an even older generation (suspension for example)?
By the time the next GTR comes, the G35 will be due for an complete update. If that update is called the V36 Skyline (and still G35 in the US) I suppose the next GT-R will be the R36 (in Japan and Infiniti GTR in the US) and will not be based around this (v35 Skyline/pre 2007) design. In fact the next G35 may be a toned down version of the next GT-R. Just my $0.02

OK that definitely makes sense to me, it seemed kind of odd that SCC would be the first mag to debut something like this. Also kind of weird that Nissan would unwrap so many details so early in the game. But your right, just speculation. As far as the design cues are concerned, they are really boring however SCC (I'm not sure if any of the others mentioned this) stated that it would probably have the round tailights that have been with the Skyline all along; again only rumor. Shonuff what you were saying about using the G35 deisgn to mask the details of the new skyline does seem like a clever idea on Nissan's part. However, if indeed that is the car they've been testing and it hasn't been photoshopped to much, it looks like they'll be using a V6 since fitting a V8 in the current engine bay of a G would be nearly impossible. I know that the G is the current Skyline V35 in Japan and that the VQ series deviates from this but, what ever happened to the inline 6's on previous skyline??? I know at an earlier prototype debuted at the Tokoyo show a few years back, Nissan was saying the engine would be an inline six. Also, the design deviates incredibly from the older prototype. Again just my thoughts.

This is pretty old news. As far as that pic, I thought I read before that it was the body of the G with the internals of what the next GTR should have. ANd by the way, what is a differential grill? I've never seen one.
As far as the trademark issue goes, don't read too much into that.
In the US, Nissan has registered ATTESA as Registration No. 2874297; however, far as I know, the only ATTESA-equipped vehicles sold by Infiniti are the FX series. In addition, Nissan has applied for the NISSAN GTR mark as Application No. 76381543. Interestingly, Nissan applied for the GT-R CONCEPT mark in 2001, but gave up on the application in 2003.
