Hi.

When I get on it in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gears, right about 4k RPMs I will hear a noise like a loose chain hitting something. It will come and go. It kind of sounds like marbles in a can. Since I am new to this vehicle, is this something that occurs with most of them.

My M3 had this problem, and it turned out to be the vanos piece of crap.

I used to have this too. I got an aftermarket exhaust and it went away so i believe its just a vibrating heat shield. It can be bent easily so make more clearance.
