So after 2 years of driving my G this happened to me today, scraped my rear quarter panel to a pole on a parking lot. The scrape is probably 10 inches long, the paint is off but clearcoat is still there, no metal visible. My assumption is that I have repaint the whole panel ? Or can this be repaired without removing the panel ? Any expert input is appreciated, I will post pictures in the morning

 

They dont remove the rear quarters unless they need to be replaced..

 

how is the clear still there if the base coat is gone ?

I would hope that nearly a decade after the original post that this issue was fixed
