I got a checkup and they gave me a few things on my list, some of the things I knew I needed to get replaced since I'm almost 70K miles and I haven't done any 60k service yet. All I've replaced for maintenance so far are the drive and AC belts. I'm thinking about going back to the dealer since I have 15% off everything from now on forward. Here is what the list entails:

Rear Brake Service $374 -$50 Current Special
Engine Air Filter $60
Cabin Air Filter $68
Transmission Fluid Flush $280
Rear Differential Fluid Service $63

Which ones do you think are worth it (for the quoted price) to do it on my own? I don't necessary have time to do bigger jobs and I do drive my car about 50-60 miles everyday. I knew I'd have to get the diff fluid flushed, but didn't realize that the transmissions fluid flush would cost that much. I can probably change the two air filters on my own (carcoal filter better? K&N filters better?). And for the rear brakes over $300 for the pads and installation sounds a little steep, what do you guys think? I do have 15% off on these prices, but I wanted to hear some opinions since I'm always wary of the prices at the dealership.

Thanks for input.
Alvin

I think those are some reasonable prices. However, you can do them yourself. I took care of the incabin air filter and the engine air filter....Not too hard to do once you get used to it.

Yeah, I did the two air filters already, really easy. Going to do the brakes myself too.

Got a quote for flushing transmission fluid and draining the rear diff for around $160, so I'm just going to save the trouble and let the shop take care of it. Thanks for the opinions!

Get a set of wheel chocks, a good jack, and a set of quality jack stands and you'll have no worries.

Why do I bother? Flush is what you're supposed to do to your toilet! "Drain/Fill" is what we do to transmissions 99% of the time. If you're going to do the work learn the correct terminology....Gary

At 70K shouldn't they also check/replace your belts too?

Yep, already had those done prior.

Ended up doing everything myself except for draining the transmission and rear diff. Got those done for $166 at a reputable shop, not too shabby.

Same here!! I saw this thread and went and ordered a k&n drop in filter and also ordered a cabin filter. They don't have to be replaced yet, but I'll have them handy for when I need them, which should be before the end of the year.

i wonder what isane price the dealer would have quoted for a major tune up or i guess they label that as inspection II...

what does the dealer even include in a major tune up? or is it just a glorified oil change?

I also need to do brakes. I need pads with stock stopping power and not any sort of racing pad. Suggestions of brand, price and where to buy?

i will probably have to do rotors as well, not really sure when to try and have them re surfaced or when its time to buy new. i thought about cross drilled/slotted for looks but its not a must.

ill be doing this job myself so i can save some money.

Don't know how these prices compare to everyone elses, but I was quoted the following @ Bert Ogden Infiniti in Deep South Texas (Mission)

AT Transmission FLUSH - $189.00 (asked it if was a drain/fill like an oil change, guy said no, its a complete flush)
Power Induction Cleaning - $125.00 (guy said its when they clean the injectors and flow test them to get them within an even range of each other)

Do you always have to get your rotors cut everytime you change pads?

^No. Only if they're warped, and even then, you might as well just change them.

Are there a lot more services in addition to the ones listed by OP for a 130k Maintainance package? The listed intervals didn't go that high on infiniti's website. XO
