Headlights...04 to 06 coupe swap?

Hey guys,

Purchased a pair of 06 headlights. I have the 04 coupe headlights with xenon. Went to a local specialist and told him that it should be plug in play along with swapping the ballast from my old 04 headlights. The guy checked it out and said its way to difficult for him to do. He said the headlights are wired way up further than he expected and he didn't want to take the risk with them being HIDs and getting electrocuted. I thought this was suppose to be an easy task. He's saying he has to take off the bumper and do all this stuff to it. Is it really that hard to do? I was trying to find a DIY on it, but I couldn't find anything. Is there really much more to it than just plug and play? What all else do you have to do in order to do the swap?

Thanks for your help,

Tony

The swap is easy. there are plenty of DIYs on the forums. just search. You don't have to take the entire bumper off, but you have to drop it a little bit. I did the swap myself in a couple hours. The guy you talked to is stupid. Disconnect the battery and you won't get shocked. The ballast swap is simple. The lights are only held in by i think 5 bolts.. just do it yourself.

The swap process takes less than an hour but you do need to lower the front bumper, other than that it's a "plug n play" swap. There should be a sticky here for the install, it is the best upgrades you can make for a first gen G35....Gary

Coup to sedan

My buddy sold his 04 coupe and gave me his aftermarket headlights for my 06 sedan are they only plug and play or would I need to replace the side panels because the 04 headlights look a little more sharp.

You should sell his headlights for ~6-700 and buy some OEM xenons. It will not fit, at all.

Actually he did do him some favors. He basically just gave him $400-700 dollars (depending on condition). That was nice of him.

I was looking at it from a stand point of being able to use them! You know it is a damn shame Nissan didn't use the same headlights in the coupes and sedans! That would have been to logical...Gary

Not to mention it would make the sedans look outstanding. Those few sedans who have done the coupe front conversion.. Wow. They look great.
