Replaced the window motor....YET AGAIN..

Yes, I am getting tired of it. this is my 3rd one to replace in 2 years (same window). And yes, I have the O'Reilly lifetime warrantee, so it's free each time. But Holy Crap!!! I am tired of it. I really sometimes am not sure I am going to get it all back together. This time I had it all together and it didn't go up.....took it all apart again and it works. I am sick of it.

Will having the dealership do it next time make it work for ever? And will they guarenttee the work for like 2 or 3 years?

Sorry for the rant.

My guess is, it's more about the quality of parts rather than the install....Gary

I agree with gary. I think I'd try an OEM window motor. Are the O'Reilly's made in China? Also, just out of curiosity do you raise and lower your windows a lot. I believe that the nifty final closure after the door is shut probably adds significantly to the wear.

Very true, probably should have gone with the OEM motor. But at this point, I hate to buy a new motor....O'Reillys may be bad quality, but it's free. If this new one goes out, I may take it and pay the ungodly price to have the dealership fix it (if it comes with a warrantee).

I wouldn't consider it free when you consider your time and the frustration involved replacing it frequently like you posted. Maybe it's time to spend the $$ for a OE motor, you're already an expert on replacing them....

They're remanufactured with crappy parts which is why they break so fast.

Yea...I just looked them up at O'Reilly's and they are remanufactured. Price 134.99. If you go to www.Infinitipartsusa.com the OEM ones are 197.63 that's only $60 more. Not much for your effort and frustration.

Sorry...can't help you there! If you call or email infinitipartsusa I'm sure they can tell you. I bought parts from them and have been pleased with their service.

The o'reilly motors are hit and miss. The first one I got only lasted 2 months, but the free replacement for that one has been going since June without any problems. I just hope it stays that way.

My first OReilly motor lasted 1.5 years, the second about 3 months. I hope this new one lasts at least a year. I am a pro at replacing them now. It's just a hassel.

My driver side motor has been replaced 4 times so far! My car is under extended factory warranty and the work is being done in the dealership so i am assuming the parts are OEM. YET AGAIN, the window got into trouble last month. It malfunctions intermittently, but I was lucky when I took the car in and showed it to the service manager he saw that the window wasn't moving and the motor was making some strange noise. Despite of that, the SA calls me back a few hours later that it is working now and they can't do anything about it now!!! I was appalled. I told him that basically they know something is wrong as he personally saw it, but they are not able to fix it. He admitted that but the invoice just says: customer reported...., ....unable to reproduce the problem"!!!
I am also very tired of dealing with the problems in this car. There is also an airbag light problem going on now and I posted a thread about it today. Am seriously considering getting rid of the car. Like one mentioned, It's loss of time, nerves and money even when the warranty covers it.
BTW, would 5 window repairs qualify for Lemon Law?
