IP paint job
I'll be buying a front bumper, sides, a rear and a trunk for my car once nice weather comes and im just curious to see how much people paid for a paintjob for this kind of job on an ivory pearl coupe. I hear that an IP paintjob is more expensive and hard to match , but how expensive is it?

local shop known for quality and good prices quoted my 1k for a NEW front bumper + paint and matching. about 390 of that was the cost of the bumper. The paint cost alone is almost 200 bucks
Only way to save money I can see if take the bumper off yourself and bring it in, and re-install yourself, not sure how they'd match it then though.

Couldn't tell by the pic in his garage but he doesn't live in our "Neck of the Woods!" When a body shop quotes that kinda $$ to paint it's smart to shop around. Try going to our REGIONAL, then your location/area and find recommended body shops from our members. I was once quoted $1K to paint my Impul sides and asked they guy, "If I had stupid written on my forehead?" Ended up paying $350 which I didn't mind across town....Gary

i live in new york, far from you guys haha. Im going to get a quote from my local body shop and see what they say, my family has been going there for years so maybe ill get some kind of break. Basicly i just want to know if what i hear from them is reasonable or not. So you say if i get quoted about 1300, i should go for it? I know this shop will do a good job so thats not a worry. Thanks guys

The paint itself is NOT cheap for these cars. You're looking at a tri-level paint job...which means 3 different coatings...which basically means 3x as much. lol If it's a brand new body part, you're looking at prep, fitting, and primer as well. Also keep in mind there are different qualities of paint, you're going to pay even more for a premium quality, but it will be worth it if you are going for a more precise color match and durability. You're probably looking at close to $500 in material alone for all body pieces....so $1300 including labor seems feasable.

Tri-coat shouldn't be 3 times as much, a normal color is 2-coat.. base and clear. The reason you're quote will be a bit high is because basically the entire is getting sprayed except the doors, roof, and hood. Rear bumper and trunk will be blended to the bigass quarters... front bumper will be blended to fenders.
