Changing Brake rotors

Hello friends,

I need some input. I am changing all four rotors and brake pads on my 04 G35 coupe. I have the brake warning light 'o'n the cluster. On navigation screen it says "Parking Brake Warning" in red. Here is my question. Are there any seperate parking brake shoes other than the regular rear brake pads? If so where are they located?. I oredered slotted brake rotors with pads from ebay at a very fair price but they never mentioned anything about the emergency/ park brake shoes.

Any comments will be appreciated.

Best regards

the e-brake "shoes" are actually located behind/in the rotor. the rear brake pads are just for the hydraulic breaks, but the e-brake has some mechanism inside that pushes on the rotor from the inside of the rotor.

by the way, how much did u pay for you rotors? i was on the verge of changing mine, but then I couldnt get them off (rusted on like a *****) so i said f*k it, they're not that bad anyway.
and if you DO manage to get them off, let me know how, because i tried hammering, rust spray... all sorts of shyt... no luck....

oh, and i'm not sure how to actually CHANGE the ebrake shoes... i just know where they are...but i'm assuming if u change the rotor you should be ok... my guess.....

There should be a tiny hole in the rear rotors that you spin to a specific spot and that will allow you to use something thin/small like a punch to rotate the adjuster mechanism to take tension off the pads to get the rotor off.

If you force the rotor off while the pads are still contacting the rotor you risk damaging the parking brake mechanism.

There should also be a main adjuster somewhere around the actual ebrake lever that you need to back off as well.

The shoes are simple to change, PITA part is finessing the springs...

This is how it's been on previous cars I've done the parking brake shoes on, I imagine the G is similar.

You might have luck shining an LED flashlight in the little hole while you spin the rotor around, you'll see a star adjuster wheel thingy if it's like ones I've done in the past.

The main adjuster I'm used to seeing at the base of lever usually under the center console, it draws/loosens both of the cables together vs. your star adjusters at each parking brake assembly which should just be set with a slight drag when changed, then tighten your main adjustment a little.
