Opinions on next mods needed......
04 5AT g35 coupe
Current mods:
-Pleneium 5/16 Spacer Copper Iso
-Z-tube
-M2 Catback Exhaust
Mods in the mail:
-Grounding kit
-Trans Go Shift Kit
Goals and Criteria:
-Must pass Cali smog (willing to switch out parts to smog if its REALLY EASY)
-Increase Performance (hp/tq)
-Not looking at suspension handling etc (rims/tires and suspension is up after i get engine mods done)
-no FI, not looking to spend more then 1-2k
Looking at tune but want to get that last. Heard about test pipes and HFC but worried about smog.

Nice list. Only other mod id get is 3.7 final drive gears. You can get that for like $500 installed and is awesome for faster acceleration. You should be able to pass smog with HFC's, unless they do a visual. ART pipes would be the best, but you'd have to swap them out everytime you have to smog. They're still worth it IMO.

You could go with MotorDynes ART Pipes if you don't mind swapping back the OE cats for your smog check every 2 years. Forget HFCs mine failed miserably! I believe we must get the Test every other year in CA. If you've read enough threads about exhaust you know the OE cats is where most of the restriction is....Gary

Ok well looks like since they both wont pass smog i should just get test pipes (not sure why they make HFC if it wont let you pass smog). How much do you think the installation switch would cost??? I have a garage I could do it at but a couple hours away.
This might be the end of my engine modding if i cant install these![Frown](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
any other mods perhaps? heard headers really dont do anything

HFC's won't give you as much rasp as straight pipes and they run cleaner meaning you won't smell fumes all the time.
Headers don't do much performance wise but they sound nice. Long tube headers would be best but they're costly and limit your options when it comes to smog.

I would say that a TUNE is next in line.... our car shave an electronic throttle and it never opens 100% from the factory... an UPREV tune is where its at. hit me up if you have any questions.

The OP is a good friend of mine and was tuned pretty much stock, he absolutely LOVED it. I have an osiris tuner version for sale for deals, hit me up if you want to save some $$
