New member need opinions

Hey guys new member long time G owner, I've searched the forums but haven't really found what I'm looking for so need advice/opinions. I own a 04 coupe that's creeping up on 100k miles, I'm torn because I've had her for 8 years but the paint is beat and she's slowed down a lot, the one bright side is the interior is mint.

Here's my question/questions the car is completely sock and obviously paid off but lately I've had the itch to want to completely restore her with future plans of boosting, is this worth it on a car with 100k miles? I'm talking about built long block, new tranny, suspension, paint and boosting after that. I know this is a lot of time and money but i think it would be better than starting all over again with car payments and not being able to modify for fear of voiding warranty.

So what do you guys think a project like this would cost me and is it worth it? obviously I'd buy a beater for a DD and park the G during the resto process. How reliable are fully built long blocks? how much life do you think I 'd be able to get out of the car as a weekend driver after the restoration? should I just leave the car alone and use it as a beater and start the car payment thing again? anything else besides what I listed that would also need to be replaced to make sure the car would be as close to new as possible?

Looking forward to meeting everyone and hearing all opinions, thanks.

In a situation like this depending on your finances you'd be better off investing your $$ in a later model coupe with low mileage. By doing so you'll have a nice ride you can drive anywhere rather than a pair of beaters....Gary

Maybe a tune up s what yu need. If your car is running good, then go for it. Youll have a new love for your g

yeah no kidding. 100k shouldn't be bad mileage??? how bad have you been doggin that car cause i would think she would still be running good... Paint problems i can understand though and a quality paint job isn't cheap. however if it was me id go ahead and buy a longblock or something to the sort and start a build, all you really need is built bottom end plus boost to make good numbers with these motors. then paint job and suspension. idk maybe just personal opinion but my G is one of my biggest loves so she will always be the garage project for me

Oh yeah if you going to repaint the car might as well change the color and go all out. Choose an awesome color

The engine will have to be rebuilt before you boost it, so plan on that first (if you want it to last while its boosted). You can always swap the engine out with one that has lower miles.

$20K+

You could also swap to an LS motor instead.

Thanks for all the replies guys, that's kind of what I'm getting at, I could drop money on a new car and have to leave it stock because of warranty or I could drop that say 20k into restoring this one. I'm thinking rebuilding it the ''right way'' would mean better stronger faster than stock and I'd enjoy it a lot more especially the boost part , and the fact it would only be a weekend car anyway.

Another thing is I'm moving to Chicago next month because of a new job and all my friends and family say to buy a beater and not waste money on a new car because the Chicago roads and winter will ruin it any way.

So I'm leaning towards the restore but with the mileage on it I was wondering if lets say after engine rebuild, tranny and suspension there's anything else that would be a must to do replacement to have it boost ready and reliable besides proper tune and little things here and there anything major I'm missing? again thanks for the responses.

LOL no doubt an LS motor is a beast but after owning a a turbo gsx in the 90's (not comparing the two) that boost itch hasn't left, just everything from the sound of the blow off valve to the intercooler peeking through the bumper, Idk n/a just doesn't do it for me.
