test pipes

i am gonna pull the trigger and buy test pipes but i just wanted to ask the g owners that have them ...1. how do u trick the 02 sensors because i dont want issues with the cel or sel light? 2. does it make the car smell bad with the fumes or is it bearable? 3. which is better resonated or non resonated?

There are no good "test pipes" and some will give you an error code/major rasp with one exception....Motordynes ART pipes. I've never heard of anyone using these that didn't love em! They're my next purchase for SLICK and I've already wasted $$ on BERK'S HFCs only to have them fail....Gary

+1 on ART pipes, but they are spendy. No matter what brand of test pipes you get they're all going to rasp and smell like a race car, but they are CHEAP. You'll also really need an Osiris tune to maximize the power gains with all the extra flow, I know several people who've actually lost power from just bolting on parts

You need to buy defoulers to get rid of the SES light.
The smell is not bad at all.
If you can, get ART pipes. Otherwise I would say get the resonated test pipes

I just put my art pipes on monday and have pretty bad rasp after 4k rpm, or if I go WOT. Im assuming that may be just a product of the arts and my Stillen exhaust are paired together. However the sound before I hit the raspy range is beautiful.

To answer your questions:

1. How to Trick the ECU on not turning on your Check Engine Light:

Click this easy DIY:

NON FOULERS

I have Megan Resonated Test pipes V2, with the built in non-foulers.
My Check Engine turned on throwing code P0037.

Did the DIY posted and fixed it. It says use 2 of the non foulers, it was too long for mine so I used one and it worked out too.

THEN YOU HAVE TO RESET YOUR ECU:

Here is the DIY:

ECU REST PROCEDURES

SMELL - if it is brand new the smell would be worse...but a couple of hundred miles it will get less and less.. you will get used to it but the smell will never go away.

2. Resonated - Non Resonated

What exhaust are you combining this to ?

Non-resonated is always the loudest that is why you call it non-resonated...

Initially I did not like mine but it grew into me... I did have a friend of mine drive the car and I was outside... liked it..

I guess it all depend on you...

Enjoy and have fun !!!

In states that care, yes its illegal.

If you're state/county doesn't give a fukk, then you're safe.

And yes, test pipes smell bad. I had them on my evo, but that was an evo. On a luxury car like the g35, it just isn't right.

Depends if you have a loud exhaust to go with it.

If you don't and get pulled over. They are more likely to notice the smell.

If you have a loud exhaust, the cop might just write you a ticket for "modified exhaust" because that's what he first notices.

Otherwise, he will write you a "modified smog" ticket. Which I'd hate to get.

My evo exhaust was filthy loud, and i was running an open dump WG so the smell was insanely strong. But the exhaust was so loud I think the cop just focused on that. He didn't bother checking for cats under the car, and didn't even pop my hood. He just got me for the "loud exhaust".

One thing you can do that I did on my evo was to wrap the test pipe with a gutted cat. So it looked like a regular cat if cops looked under there.

its not illegal in Ga. we dont have no emissions law, im going to go with test pipes i think ive seen cars with ART pipes mod and theres no difference at all dont waste your $$$ on them, Im pretty sure i have a bad cat anyway the gas smell in my car is pretty rough sometimes, So im gonna just replace them with test pipes and see how that works, Test pipes worked great on my STi but that was a turbo car
