it doesnt look too bad, but since your airbags deployed i guess there is a chance at it being declared a total loss.

Sorry to hear that man, but glad you're ok.
I'm not an expert by any mean, but something tells me the insurance will total it. Few reasons:

1. You said the passenger side wheel is pointing forward, while the driver's side wheel is clearly pointing way outwards - that looks like a severe damage to the mounts and axle.

2. Second picture shows a noticeable drop - you said the car is not lowered. This looks like the suspension including the strut and rear axle collapsed - also, looks like a costly fix.

3. There is no picture of the passenger side but it looks like there is some damage to the chassis on the front driver's side.

Good luck with the insurance - press for a total-loss. Hang in there, the most important thing is that both you and your passenger walked out of it. Could have been much worse.

both airbags deployed, hood opened up to the windshield, car was smoking bad..... got out to see my car was a complete mess, as you can see...

body shop is gonna do the estimate 2mrw, i think its totalled....................

Sorry to see that....can you go after CalTrash because their pothole caused you to lose control of your vehicle? California's highways are crap. They built more than they can maintain.

Kia - am sick for you just looking at this. Did you get any burns from the air bag... hopefully not. Had a roommate that put his mazda in a ditch after a late night at the office. His face looked like a really bad sunburn from the airbag.

keep us posted and let us know if you need a lift or something.

Cheers, Ted

Kia man, im sorry about your car and I am very happy and glad that you and the passanger of your car are ok. The damages on your car.... depending on the shop its gonna be around pretty close to 16-20K(give or take a thousand $). You figure all the parts... its gonna be expensive. Just the air bag damages alone your lookin at about 7-8 grand(all your air bags deployed right?). I kno you probably think im smokin the magic stuff but trust me man.. youll see what im talkin about. The complete job will be about 2 months work

wow...good to see that the G protects the drivers and passengers really well. I hope that the insurance company will file it as a total loss because if they don't...and you get your car back, it'll definately never be the same.
