Out of state buying procedure

Hello,

I was just wondering if any of you guys know the process for buying a vehicle out of state. I'm going from PA to WV to buy mine, and with a 4 hour drive I would rather finish it in one day. Here's what I have planned:

-Arrive, get vehicle inspected at a shop
-Go to seller's credit union, pay in full cashiers's check, remove lien and take title
-Notarize, get temp plates, drive back and finish things in PA.

Am I missing anything? What do I need to make sure the seller does on his end?

Thanks guys! I'm gonna be picking the car up on Friday just want to make sure everything goes smoothly.

I'm also from PA and picked up my coupe from NJ a few months back. I'm sure laws vary from state to state, but this is the process I went through.

-Get all possible information about the car over the phone/email
-Drive to NJ, look over the car, test drive, take to a mechanic
-In terms of payment, I simply handed him a cashier's check, he signed over the title, we both signed a Bill of Sale, and that was pretty much it.

I didn't feel like paying for temporary plates, so I just took a plate off of another car from home and brought it along. It's not necessary legal, but I unless you get pulled over, I would imagine it wouldn't be a problem. I made it back just fine. I did bring the registration for that plate along though so I could prove I owned the plate just in case.

But yup, once I got back, went and got permanent plates and had it registered and inspected. In terms of insurance, I called the company beforehand and told them I may be purchasing, just as a heads up. They said I'd be covered if I did, but I'd assume if varies with which company you use.
