Do you want to hear a nice sound while possibly losing power due to heat soak? Or do you want to have minimal performance gains, but at least you won't lose power?

I don't agree with the whole heat soak thing since concrete does not give off more heat than your motor does. Moving the air filter out of the engine bay is always the better option for cooler air. Those heat shields... do little to nothing. Your filter is sitting in the engine bay and while a little plastic or metal shields it from the direct heat of the motor, the heat in the engine bay will still affect your intake temp. Not only do you want a box that completely seals the intake filter from the engine bay air, you want something to bring it lots of fresh air as well.
With that said, lose the CAI and go for the z-tube with revup air box and a good filter. Due to the long piping, CAIs make power up top, but you lose a lot of low end power, losing a lot of response. These VQ motors make tons of low and mid power that you really want to utilize, so you really don't want to focus on top end unless you are putting enough money into making power to justify it. The cars you want a CAI in are the ones that you need to rev high to make power, like Hondas.

I have a JWT popcharger with z tube. I love it, after 4k rpms it gives off a nice growl. From what i researched if you stay N/A I would just do a SRI and z tube. Its not very expensive and its easy to install a good first mod.

Seems like we've had this discussion before, you're way better off with a normal z-tube and revup air box. Any time you run a metal tubing intake you're heating the incoming air. When it's cool outside you won't notice any difference but when the outside temp heats up you'll lose major rwhp. Stillen makes the only aftermarket intake/z-tube combination that's not effected by heat due to it's plastic composite construction....Gary

Because it's blue and gold and looks cool. That's an automatic 10 hp gain!
I have tried different set ups including the pop charger. I went full circle and am back to Z tube/KN filter/rev up box.. I admit I do miss the sound of the Pop Charger though.
