Thoughts between Autozone parts and mechanics parts supplier??
What is everyones thoughts on replacement parts? Would you prefer to get your parts from autozone or advanced auto and then have a shop install them, or go with whatever parts that the shop gets from its supplier.
My G needs both rear wheel bearings and maybe window motor or regulator..I replaced the motor a year ago, but then the window was smashed and had new glass put in but the glass looks warped and not as smooth as the driver so Im not sure if the glass itself has caused the issue.
I need brakes done all the way around but Im getting my rotors from PerformanceBrake.com
So should I go with the shops parts supplier or get the parts myself from autozone. Mind you the parts from autozone/advanced auto are cheaper then what the mechanic gets his parts for.

So what would be worse quality? the autozone/advanced parts?
i manage at a autozone in south carolina.
honest opinion here the window motor you can get from a autozone or advance. the difference is autozone keeps warranty info on computer system linked nationwide, with advance or o'reileys you have to keep you receipt.
motor comes with lifetime warranty and i have two friends with 350z's who use duralast cmax pads and they have virtually no brake dust and haven't run into any issues at all.
i also replaced my window motor with the dorman motor from autozone almost a year ago and i haven't had any issues ( plus its got lifetime warranty if it does mess up)
keep us posted on whatever you decide but just keep in mind that no autozone, advance, or any of those sort of part stores were never truly geared towards the japanese market. so anything that doesn't have a lifetime warranty through a part store then you might as well just buy from nissan and get a part you know is made and marketed for these cars

I used to manage an autozone too lol.
I agree with everything DD Coupe said and also keep in mind that mechanics typically get parts from auto parts stores as well and charge you more for them than if you went and bought them yourself.
Just saying.

TRUTH: Mechanics get parts at discount from Autozone/O'reilly/NAPA/CARQUEST/DEALERSHIP at discount and then mark it up and sell it to you. They will provide you some sort of part and labor warranty on it to offset the hit. You can buy your own part that will come with a lifetime warranty or a finite warranty. You can pay the mechanic for hourly labor and take the gamble the part will not crap out. If it does you will have to pay the mechanic to remove the part and take it down to auto store and swap out under warranty and pay mechanic to reinstall.
Most auto stores sell you remanufactured window motors. Let see the OEM one lasted say 5-7 years...so why not stick to OEM.

^ very true they deal with our commercial department all the time. and the price of ours is the same as sewell infiniti if you keep you're core, cheaper if you turn it in
what is the warranty like on theirs?? cause if you know the motors in these nissans are horrible and have a great chance of going out again then why not get one with a lifetime warranty. covers you from having to pay the money a second time even if it is after many years.
play it smart. if you have somebody who you can get used to at a autozone, advance, etc then it can benefit you when it comes to getting you're lifetime warranty parts exchanged without any problems. gl with everything tho man and BTW this is def something you can do yourself if you have any sense of working on a car. there is a great DIY on this forum and you can save yourself a good bit of cash

Autozone, advance auto parts and many others sell Cardone REMAN motors. Read the reviews about them crapping out a lot sooner than a brand new oem. How much is OEM versus used reman. What about the labor when the motor craps out 3yr later is labor also lifetime or so i have to cough up more money to the mechanic. A reman motor is a mechanics wet dream for job security. I would never go to mechanic for window motor. I can easily do that while sound proofing and installing a pair of focal 165 k3p or Hertz components.

Only lasted 2 or 3 months, I still have the receipt!!! Came dirty, looked like it came out of a junk yard but I figured I'd try it since the only alternative was Nissan. Now I have to change the window motor again. It's been an ongoing problem with these cars, this is my 3rd one in the driver side, on number 2 on the passenger. The others lasted about a year each.

im not disagreeing that they are reman and have the chance to not last long. but my oem one lasted 25k miles and my reman from autozone for 47k miles so far and its still great so i guess you just got bad luck and i had good luck, and if you're part came in like that then why would you walk out of the store with that part. if you had any sense you would know all you have to do tell them you want a new one and if they say know you call corporate headquarters and complain and you would have not only gotten another one but you're money back as well if you know how to play your cards right with corporations.
basic point here is if it has warranty you only have to pay the money once. you go back to nissan and you don't have warranty then you can be stuck paying numerous times for the same part.
idk why you are bringing up the cost here, if you can't afford the parts for the car you probably shouldn't be driving the car at all then

None of this applies to me as I am not the person who posted up the reviews (just copy and pasting / playing devils advocate). I am still on my OEM window motors from factory and will be replacing it with OEM window motors down the road for $150 when it craps out. Then I will sell my core back to some shop that can reman it and sell it for profit or better yet just do the diy and have a backup on hand. If you read all the other reviews of the buyers you will see it was not only one person who had a bad experience. I am always worried and knocking on wood for the fear of window motor and ac/radio controls crapping out. Not for the fear of labor since I will be doing it my self but for the pure time and money waste. Rather spend it on diapers for my baby boi to shizz in then to compensate for NISSAN's fail engineering.
OEM Parts are better. Like someone stated above, when auto repair places (non dealership) are putting parts on cars, the FIRST place they call is Autozone, Advance, Oreilly's, Napa, etc. I used to work in the field for like 6 years. I have done it myself. Trust me- it's all the same, and the parts are all lower quality than OEM parts from the dealer.
