smallest wheels for winter setup

what is the smallest wheel the g35c will take? i was thinking of going as small as possible to get the beefiest snow tires for the winter season.

does sidewall size make a difference with snow tires?

i've heard that a larger sidewall will give you better grip in the snow. from what i've read on this site, most people go with a 17" wheel for winter setups. the biggest thing to consider on the rims is making sure they fit over your brakes, especially if you have the brembo package.

what about the 05's w/o the brembo's. the dealer said the smallest possbile is 16, but he wasn't 100% sure.

the base 2005 g coupe comes with 225/50R17 all around. I'd shoot for something like that.

I have 17" on my Automatic Coupe, (with 225/55 tires) and I believe some 17" will fit the Brembos, but you'll have to test fit to be sure.
My settup works well in the snow.

To those living in the snow belt & thinking about purchasing a G35 with the upgraded suspension & 19" wheels: There are no 19" snow tires, only 4 season (pray when there's ice) tires. I had to get 18" rims and Pirelli SnowSports.

I was slipping & sliding for a couple of days on the stock summer tires until I had this snow tire/ wheel combo installed. Budget an extra $1500-2,000 to the purchase.

The Pirelli 240 SnowSports are great in the snow, ice and slush that covers the roads. I have Blizzaks on my RX-7 that work great too! The VDC does even not light up.

anyone have experience w/the oem 17's w/the all season tires in the snow?\

living in the boston area, i have 2 options:

$1600 sport package 19's + $2000 winter wheel/tires = $3600 (max)
$0 oem 17's w/all seasons + $3600 my choice of aftermarket wheels = $3600

i like option 2 as long as the all seasons hold up in the winter time. but then again, i'm really liking the clean look of the oem 19's........aaarrgggghhh too many decesions...lol
