3 Questions on Seats,Brembros, and warranty

Well I can't seem to find any answers so I will just try to ask.

1) Sometimes my driver seat moves automatically forward when i move my seat up and other times it doesn't...is there something wrong with my motor?

2) My front driver side brakes squeak when I drive...I know its from brake dust but if I took it into Infiniti will they clean it for free under warranty? They are annoying when i drive on the highway and its only been 6k miles!!!

3) Last question is if I do bring it in for warranty, do I just call and make an appointment?

Thanks a lot!

1. I turn off my car, unbuckle my seat belts, open the door, and lift my seats up and nothing happens.

2. I know its dirty and I would have to take off the calipers to clean the pads but Im lazy....thats the reason I bought a new car so I wouldn't have to worry about problems in my old car...Has anyone ever taken it to Infiniti to get them cleaned under warrantY?

Thanks guys for the info!

The driver's seat will only move forward with the door open and the emergency brake up (a safety precaution). This is spelled out in the owner's manual. On the passenger side, all you need is the door to be open.

Your Infiniti dealership is a car dealership, not a car wash where they'll sit there and thoroughly clean the brake pads that you let get dirty, for free. Take some wheel cleaner (I recommend Eagle One A2Z All Wheel & Tire Cleaner), spray the stuff on your wheels and a bit on the rotors, and rinse it all off. Then drive the car and use the brakes and you'll be squeak-free.
Im not blaming the Brembro brakes.....chill out a little. Why are my brakes sqeaking every time i barely turn it to the left? Its because of brake dust and the ****ty brake pads Infiniti uses but everyone can hear my squealing even when Im going straight. It's not my job they used crappy brake pads which in turn gets stuck in between the brake pad and rotor...it even sounds as it is ripping into the rotor. I sprayed brake dust cleaner and it still squeaks. Plus I already tried to your method so thats why Im determining if anyone has brought it in and gotten the guys to inspect it and clean it under warranty. Its a simple yes or no.

And also thank you gersteinp I will try that out when I get home. Im glad you aren't an @$$hole when it comes to answering questions.

You're quite welcome. There's no place for rudeness on a public forum. Regarding the seat-forward problem, I took my car to the dealer for that and felt dumb when I found out it was normal.

2. All brake pads have a natural tendency to want to squeal. The squealing is nothing more than a high frequency vibration between brake parts. Since it is not exactly pleasurable to hear it, and perhaps even embarrassing, brake pad manufacturers take measures to try and eliminate the noise. Usually, properly bed-in pads squeal less or not at all. More current cars with pads designed to help stop a car quickly and consistently are more prone to squealing as the materials used are tailored more towards performance than noise reduction. Especially with Brake Assist becoming more popular as a standard option, we are seeing pads that are gripper than they used to be. Overall, they don't do much for stopping distances, but they do respond faster which can save a few feet in a panic stop.

And I try to stay away from wheel cleaners. I used to use them, but found my brake pads seem to wear quicker when I use them. I'm not sure if they actually cause that to occur, but soap and water cleans the wheels just fine. My speculation is that wheel cleaners generally need to be able to loosen up brake dust. The chemicals used could also act on the brake pads themselves as brake dust would consist of the same materials. Again, I have no proof of it, but I'll let my observations guide me on this one.

If they squeak after you cleaned them take it to the dealer and let them look at it and yes schedule an appointment. I agree the dealer is not a carwash but your better off getting them checked.
I don’t recognize you by your screen name but if you haven’t been out to our weekly Orlando meets you need to start.
