Quick Question on Air Filters

I'm currently running the oem rev-up intake box, z-tube and K&N filter. I'm looking to change back to dry filters. I've read a few of you have the Amsoil air filter. Recommendations? Anyone else try out the Nismo S-Tune or Apexi Air Filter?

IMHO, it's best to run just a dry replacement filter and change it frequenty. IMHO, those dry types that you clean off again, never get all that clean again and eventually clog.

I happen to have a oem purolator filter for sale if you want to go that route.

I'm very happy with my Amsoil EA Nanofiber filters. I have them in both my car and truck.

I'm running an Apex'i in a rev-up airbox. Honestly, an air filter is an air filter is an air filter IMO.

Not true! I used to have a K&N in mine, and that thing let a $hit ton of dirt by. I had a film of small dirt particles on the inside of the clean side of my intake tube when I took that thing off and my oil used to get dirty much quicker prior to switching over to the Amsoil filter. I drive my car in really clean conditions too... I can't even imagine what it would be like if I had one of those in my Tacoma.

I will never use another K&N filter in any vehicle.

I should have inserted the word "dry" in front of "air filter" because that's what I meant.

Owner of motordyne advocates an oem filter and chaning it. OEM filters flow very well when clean and terrible when dirty.

That test didn't include the Amsoil Dry filter though.

Yep.... I remember reading that comparison test a few years ago. It used the old Amsoil foam filter which was an oiled filter.

The newer EA Nanofiber ones are a dry filter.

Foam is terrible for filtration.

You know what's interesting about that, is that pretty much all dirtbike and quad air filters are oiled foam. I know both of my dirtbikes use oiled foam ones as do most of my buddies quad filters.

Foam doesn't filter but it flows. so since dirt bikes don't get that many hours, they figure you'd get rid of it before the motor wears out. Other filters probably clog too fast so that's another reason to use foam on dirt bikes.
