I just went for an oil change and they suggested an Air Filter change, my gf G35 coupe 6MT has 82K miles, the car pretty much is stock, we are just looking for some advice on a good air filter. I have a 2009 g37 sedan that is getting close to the 50K, any advice on air filter for that one too?

i would personally go with the stock one if u got ur stock airbox in other wise the filter that came with your intake.

I'd go with the K&N drop in air filter that is compatible with your car....its better than going with a cold air intake and it can be recharged.... end thread haha

I am new to this stuff, so I heard you should change the air filter every 30K right? what is the best option with me not needing to add anything extra (other than changing the filter) to the car.

10k intervals are fine for an air filter change. I personally go with dry air filters. K&N claims to be a lifetime filter, but I don't buy that.

OEM filters are just fine. Other popular dry filters come from Apex'i and Amsoil. Bang/blow it out at 5k and replace at 10k.

Stock or the K & N filter. I like the K & N since it gives you slightly more throttle response and its reuseable. If you live in a low dust area, i would check on the filter at 12-15k and if its clean change it out at 30k.

If you live in a high dust or polluted area i would change it out every 10-12k.

Don't get a K&N. I used to use one on my car... it let a ton of dirt by. I've since switched to a dry Amsoil EA-Nanofiber drop-in filter and it's much better.

thank you for the info. where can i get the best deal for OEM or Amsoil or K&N. I think I saw amazon sells OEM pair of Air filters for $30 plus $12 shipping.
What about local Autozone, NAPA, etc. Any ideas?

Thanks for all the advice i went to the dealership and got a oem for $25. I placed it in my trunk and with all the movement it broke, no the black plastic but the side white liner. Can I still use it? Or can I glue it some how? It's a vertical line.

^^Yea that should still be fine. The filter is held tightly inside the airbox on all sides.

Good that you stuck with oem. Heard stories of some MAF sensors being damaged with K&N and other oiled filters.
