Black tail lights
There is no glossier version of niteshades. I wish people that insisted on doing this would do research and do this right.
- Niteshades until its black enough for you + 1 extra coat to make up for sanding
- wetsand from 400 to 2000. Clean off residue often
- clearcoat 3-5 coats, last coat being the heaviest but not enough to drip.
- wetsand again, 400-2000 grit.
- heavy rubbing compound, light compound, polish and wax.
No more flat black! But still illegal and cheap looking.

I like the tint you have. It's not toooo dark. I think it would look much better glossy though. I would at least try the wetsand thing and clear coat. I think it will look great. Looks like you already got most of the job done. I don't think super dark black looks good. If it's not too dark, then I don't think cops will bother you. I know some new cars look like they come stock with tinted red tail lights.
It's not even about cops, if you get hit from behind the fault automatically shifts from the idiot behind you to yourself.
And now they claim injury, enjoy dealing with that. I just think it's not worth the potentially huge issues. Mercedes always have had a smoked look, but never this dark. I think the law in Canada is that if you can see the reflectors in the housings from X meters away they're legal, so you could probably do a light smoke but definitely not this black.
I feel like a mother saying all this, but as someone who did have tinted tails at one point and witnessed a buddy get nailed for someone else's carelessness (he got rear ended and got **** on for it) I just don't think its cool. Plus it looks lame after a month or two.

I just did mine with about 4 coats and left the reverse lights white. Ill post pictures later tonight. I'm probably going to get some gloss paint sometime this week to many them a little more shiny
