What does this switch/button do??

I have an 04 5at coupe. I attached 3 pics of a red on/off switch and a black push button that is located by the driver side kick panel. Im a little nervous to mess with it so anyone have any ideas on what it is? It all wires to some black box that is in one if the pics but it isnt that clear. I tried researching and haven't gotten anything.

Ya i wasnt sure if it was or not because i havent seen any other G on the inside in that location. Now that i know its aftermarket im wondering if it is part of my alarm, ignition system, or fuel system. If it was any of those 3 i mentioned is there a possiblity if i turn it off then on, could it put my car in a safe mode or something?

Just do it, whats the worst case scenario?

If it's for your fuel pump/ignition killswitch, just turn it back on.
If it's for your alarm, I'm not sure how that would work but it doesn't seem like anything possibly irreversible
If it's for your flux capacitor, than sorry for the bad advice.

Really though, I don't see how anything permanently bad or overly expensive could realistically come from this. It's a mod, so it was put there for a reason. And now you have us all curious.

If you have an aftermarket alarm id say its probably a valet switch. Thats about where mine was on my old vehicle.

It looks like the machine that lock engine - a kind of protect thief from trying to turn the car on.
The black button can be a button to turn the alarm off.

It very easy to check. You can do anything with these 2 buttons : turn on/off and then drive a round slowly
Good luck !

I tried both switches out and nothing happened but this was just at idle. I didn't think to drive it around since it kept running fine, but ill have to try that out.

I tried the lock 3 times and nothing happened. It all wires to a black box that is 6"x6"x2" has 2 bigger white plugs with alot of wires. No clue where they wire to. Turned it on and off and drove around and hit the black button also and nothing. I just left it in the on position and will try to forget about it until i find out more info. It just bothers me not knowing what its for.

It has to be remote start, I have exactly same in my 03 coupe (I installed it my self). Check out the mfg name on the black box.

It has a sticker that says warranty void if removed, but i didnt find any manufacture name on it. My fob wasn't working to start the car, but it does make sense that this is what it is. Now the question is how do i get it to work?
