Oil consumption question...

I'm new to these cars...

First off, I have a 2005 g35 and when I bought it a week ago, the guy said it had the engine replaced under the oil consumption tsb thing at around 30k back in 07...he car now has 82k miles.

My question is were there any modifications to the motor they replaced the old ones with? Or do they put the same engines in? Like did they revise anything to fix this problem?

2nd is what is the warranty period on this? If it was doing it again, would they replace the motor again?

I've only had the car about a week, maybe driven 1500 miles, I checked the oil yesterday and it was at halfway. I'm going to do an oil change and monitor it myself this change and go from there...

Any help or info would be helpful.

On a seperate note, I also got a check engine light with the code p1078. Is there a warranty period on this stuff at all? I'm not used to having a newer car under 100k miles lol.

If this matters or not, but I bought the car from an individual.

ehh, im pretty sure they just throw another engine in there that is prone to OC, not really sure about them replacing it again if there is still oc. and for the code go to autozone and they will check it for you.

You could go to Infiniti and they'll give you all the information you're asking here. Engine is 5 years old, warranty doubtful....but you could ask! Under OC recalls it's the same motor that came out, hopefully with better quality piston rings....Gary

FYI - the difference between the L and H on our dipsticks is 1 qt of oil.
