What this message does not include is the machine the most dealers use, the machine simply hooks up to the cooler lines and cycles fresh fluid into the transmission, no solvents at all. If they use solvents do not do it!

The way my dealer and most do it to a very similar to the method listed in the service manual.
That's exactely what I was saying. If you follow the recommended maintenance schedule there would never be a need to do anything but replace the transmission fluid. My dealer uses a BG machine. The machines work exactely the same in principal as the method in the service manual from the return line on the transmission fresh fluid is put in and from the line pumping fluid to the cooler the old fluid is removed.

This is different from just removing the drain plug draining fluid and replacing the same volume with fresh fluid.

unless nissan made theyre own flush systems, which i think they dont, wouldnt all flush system be considered an "aftermarket flush system" so basically nissan is telling their nissan dealers to not do it at all?

I'm scheduled to get a flush done on Thursday by Nissan. Should I show the dealer this paper?

If you do not want the flush does via the machine, ask them to do it via the Service manual procedure. It will take longer.

Got quoted $179 for the "flush" from the Nissan dealership. Does this sound right?

I'd rather get it done and over with quickly whether that means using the machine or not. Just want to do it the safest and most efficient way possible.

^ Sounds like a drain and fill, ask how many quarts they use. If its 4-5 Drain and fill, 11+ its fluid exchange.

I will ask when I get there b/c I need a fluid change either way. Both methods should work out with 41k on the clock right? I did fail the TF test when I brought it into service a few weeks ago though.

^ TF Test?

Yes, anything is better than nothing. The more quarts the better.

180 is a bit over the usual 150 for the drain and fill FYI. Make sure you check your receipt that they only charge you 4-5 quarts if they do drain and fill.

This....^....is some service noob without a clue what he's talking about! A flush would have cost you close to $300 because they're using twice the fluid....and it's not recommended by Nissan. The price quoted is $30 to high for a drain & fill, most Nissan dealerships only charge $150. Ask him why he's that much higher than other dealerships, be prepared for a dumb answer like my Infiniti dealerhship...."We use better fluids!"

I live outside of Chicago and the drain/refill I got quoted was $186 from Nissan. Prices vary by location.

Check the receipt, it will say how many quarts on it. if its low, Id ask what process they did exactly before saying it should be "x" quarts since they might just edit the receipt.

Ok so question for you guys. Mine's a manual transmission, and my first manual car. I bought it w/ 60k and did a DIY drain/fill for the MTF fluid and refilled with the recommended Nissan stuff. I did not realize that there was 11 quarts in the MT, does it circulate around? Would it be helpful to do a 2nd drain/fill?

I could not imagine a full 11 quart flush costing $180, since 4 quarts cost me $52 at the dealer. I know they get it cheaper but I would still imagine the cost being around 300. Would doing a drain/fill 2nd time? The color was a dark brown. I really don't want to pay for a flush, especially after hearing some of the horror stories. Also, my local dealership is not known for good service.
