Depends on how old the car is. My paint was eight years old under the hot Texas sun. Plus my car is dark so it soaks up all the heat. It started to pit, then peel last year only. Been using Menzerna FMJ for years and then switched over to Power Lock a year ago when they stopped making FMJ. It just seems like my roof was the only area that saw the worst of the sun.

I sanded my clear coat down to the paint below and I could tell it was in bad shape as pieces clear were flaking off in pieces easily.

Honestly, if your paint is in good shape and if you use a hair dryer to release the contact layer (during the removal process) on the backside, it should be no problem.
