Making the G35 into an exotic

Hi guys, Im here to get some design inspiration (your design ideas) on what a G35 could look like if it were custom made to be an exotic looking car.

There are no rules.

For example here I stretched the donor and added the One-77 model car design on it.

My other concepts

Your concepts could influence a kit conversion already in the making.

Save your time, no one will buy a kit like that... lol

Arashi 08-19-2012 06:51 PM

:)
not even an Essence kit? You'd have to stretch the front end, but wouldnt it be worth it?
http://cdn3.worldcarfans.co/2009/3/m...concept_11.jpg

TORETTO 08-19-2012 06:54 PM

No, because then we'd be posers.

That's like a civic putting on a ferrari kit. Balla? Nah. Gay? Yes.

Arashi 08-19-2012 07:00 PM

So you'd let "society", which consistent of mostly fake, materialistic, grade 6 high school girl mentality, dictate your love in car art? weak.

Arashi 08-19-2012 07:16 PM

Basically you'd pass up on driving an Essence replica kit because of what people think, calling you a poser... thats being weak minded in my world.
http://residual-income-opportunities...04/people1.jpg

TORETTO 08-19-2012 07:18 PM

I don't know how society and underaged girls got into the equation, but what I'm saying is I'm not into making my car what it isn't.

What's next after the one77 kit? Slapping on an Aston Martin badge on the car? trololololo.

Nothing to do with what others think. I'd just rather drive an authentic G35, then a fake Essence. nomsayin nomsayin?

this threads got potential. time to link it in other threads for more opinions

Texasscout 08-19-2012 07:25 PM

I have never been a fan of body kits that turn one car into another. As others have said, it's just "poser" to do so. Even using a kit car body on another chassis is kinda douche bag. The only exceptions to that are 427AC Cobra and Shelby Daytona.

It's like wearing a fake Rolex....

TORETTO 08-19-2012 07:26 PM

Just imagine driving a One77 kitted G35. I don't see the point unless you're trying to trick people into thinking you have an Aston Martin.

But then people figure out and then it's sort of like this

Well not everyone is like you guys, you'd probably have to give up lots of time in your life, in this rat race none the less, to afford beautiful cars... where I will be the master of my destiny in what design I want.

Here is the build going on in a kit forum, I can pass along ideas, like the Essence and Emerge, and other concepts once a bunch have been accumulated.
He just updated the thread with new rear end sketches but I dont know if he has decided on a front end yet.

So you want to make the G35 exotic but you start with a G37? Stick to Hondas buddy, we already have a problem with the G getting oversized wheels and into the hands of hood dealers and high schoolers. we don't need ricer kits out there, let the integra boys retrofit our taillights if the want.

Arashi 08-19-2012 08:04 PM

Thats a G37 in the kit thread? Im not the builder I just want it designed right.

AJY 08-19-2012 08:07 PM

Or just look around I've heard there are a few exotics on here you could hold a candle stick out for. So are even TT rank you may just enjoy the exotic G's if you snoop around a bit.
I'm sure one or two of them will make you say Me Gusta?

Ok ok I'm done now.

AJY 08-19-2012 08:08 PM

I'm going back the the OMG threads and getting my lotion and rowing going.

If I had the time to make/customize a car. I would not be trying to change one car into another...

I'd build a Superlite SLC.

A basic twin turbo setup is not going to cut it and I don't believe the VQ35 should even be used. If that build can hold its own against the other super cars once completed then good job, but if this is being done just for looks then its gay as fvck...

Hey I was in high school when I got the G. I went right away and installed the Kinetix v+, stillen ztube/airbox, sxexcx grounding kit and obx throttle body spacer. Not all high scoolers are bad!!!

I was bout to go to my highschool reunion and wait wtf?

Our Infinities will never be "Exotics!"

Why waste your time and $$ changing our cars into something it isn't? Body kits are one thing, remaking our cars is a whole worthless project! What's it going to be worth when you're finished, less than what you started with....Gary

You are one of the few.

Mr. Brett 08-20-2012 01:59 AM

This is almost as good as the Fiero/Lambo replicas you see floating around.

Cool concept, but...why?

Sparda1123 08-20-2012 08:41 AM

Those super lite cars are crazy! 2000lbs with 600hp thats friggen rediculous! I agree with the previous post screw messing with the G trying to make a super car for 40-60k you get one of those superlites and destroy everything!

Pepper 08-20-2012 10:14 AM

Props for being differenf but it might have been a better decision to buy a tube chasis from a reputable shop and then customize it instead of possibly destroying the balance/structure of the G.

ARASHI... I couldn't agree with you more! We members of this forum do tend to think like 6th grade girls and probably will never own a beautiful exotic car that we've hand built from the ground up. Over the years there have been people like you who have followed their dreams and built their own exotics and no one would call them posers.

Texasscout 08-20-2012 12:18 PM

Lord, I remember those, they were everywhere!

Adon 08-20-2012 12:41 PM

guys you don't know this dude the OP, but he's a local legend everyone here in Vancouver knows him as a whackjob for his constant ideas of dreaming up **** like this.... it's a long story, but to make it short here is his main project... a ****ing paper mache 300zx kit to make it look like an exotic, that alone says enough...

dude literally tried convincing us on a local thread paper mache would work

Mr. Brett 08-20-2012 01:07 PM

Personally, I think the G35 looks just FINE the way it is.

I get compliments from people quite often. I don't think this car needs to be messed with.

DKano 08-20-2012 01:07 PM

I don't know if a G35 is a good donor car for this type of project, usually you want to start with a light car, but I've never done one of these projects, so what do I know. I'm not going to hate on people that do this because this can be a great hobby for someone.
The guy on that other website has a lot of time on his hands to chop up a G35 like that without even knowing what he wants to end up with!
Got a question for Arashi, what software are you using to do those designs? It doesn't look like that software does a good job of rendering, the designs look all chopped up, almost like paper mache designs! That guy on the other website actually did a pretty good job with that rear end design he threw up there.
If you can influence that builder, then try to go with something more modern, with some nice curves, instead of something that looks squarish and outdated, that's my suggestion.

ROFLOLOLOL @ the paper mache car.

that has got to be one of the best posts on driver this month.

paper mache. who knew???

Mr. Brett 08-20-2012 01:50 PM

^ Light-weight, easy to mold.

But disintegrates at speeds over 25MPH.

TORETTO 08-20-2012 01:54 PM

For automotive purposes, let's call that disintegration....active weight reduction...

Footballmania32 08-20-2012 02:44 PM

Lol!! AWR psh what you know about ACTIVE WEIGHT REDUCTION! You see, I like my car to weigh more at the starting line of the 1/4 for a better launch, however it simultaniously loses weight through the race to help with better top end speed! Lmfao at paper mâché!

i honestly thought it could not get any worse than cardboard kits.

AJY 08-20-2012 03:12 PM

I wouldn't do it but it does not look bad with the body lines. Just being honest.

The point is your cars have generic designing compared to a good looking kit car, like a Murcielago.
was for sale for $17k

That would make for 3-4 times the cost.

Interesting car kit you chose there, Im betting something like that has more poon potential, with breaking the ice and picking up women, then your common Nissan, ie g35.

What, it didnt work? I did this years back but put it on hold to make a CNC and take the kit to another level.

The g35, like the z350 is bloated compared to the z32 and other slicker models. I wouldnt call it the best donor either.

I use a combination of programs but basically Sketchup. The models look choppy because first I reduce the resolution so that I can manipulate it fast when designing and also because I use multiple car designs/panels and fuse them to create what I desire.

In my last post I made some suggestions, but I guess he has a set design and method of making the body so from here on I'll be mostly spectating.

SRSLY?!?

:ban:

DKano 08-20-2012 04:05 PM

I'm not going to give him a hard time with the paper mache thing, he could have just been using that to make the shape for some parts. If it held up long enough for him to lay the fiberglass, then hey, he would have gotten his parts done. I've seen people use aluminum foil and cardboard to make some parts, some just use tape. It's not like he was just going to drive around in a paper mache car, at least I hope not!! :icon38:

Of course there's a timeline, otherwise the G35 can be considered a supercar if compared to a Model-T.....

Oh, and I'm fairly certain that Ferrari can still outperform a G35.
